Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

once you move pixelserv-tls away from port 443, you cripple a large portion of its functionality. almost all clients and websites are programmed to talk to their real servers on port 443. That’s where pixelserv-tls should listen. I don’t know how other aicloud users solve this problem. Perhaps...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Allow me to spoil the party a bit. There is excellent data: client ip & port that makes ad request, blocked domain name as well as the complete URL and much more from pixelserv-tls logging. If you’re going to come up with a simple script, I would say it’s better to tap in pixelserv-tls log...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

Recently I was made aware of two efforts that is somewhat related to pixelserv-tls. 1) an OPNsense user finally pops up to create an adblocker for OPNsense. It’s still at the early stage. The goal is to beat pfBlockerNG. Another user is already proposing to integrate pixelserv-tls. If things...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

Thanks for your interest first of all! We don’t usually do new binaries there. This is probably the first time because it just happens there is an issue and ppl brought up there. Also there is no secret nor valuable info there. Rather it’s a more comforting place to exchange ideas e.g. no...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

The build on Discord is only for ARMv7 routers, and no fancy script to install the binary. Pretty raw..so people should know what you're doing. You may go ahead or simply wait for rc.5. lol

    USB GPS instead of NTP

USB GPS stick aka GMouse perhaps okay for navigation but not recommended for keeping time. I think you would be far better off sync'ing time over good NTP servers on Internet in terms of effort getting it work on Asus routers and return in time accuracy.

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

You may try to run the latest build from Discord if you can/want. It has improvement in handling 0rtt that possibly has caused a hung process. Or wait for rc.5 that should be available in a few days time if tests go well.

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

My rc.4 still going strong. A few pixelserv ninjas have been working hard in the past few days to reproduce the issue. We already have a much better understanding what’s the issue. A fix might not be possible as it’s related to very new feature in tls 1.3. I still have to look into it. A...

    USB GPS instead of NTP

Place your stick near a window. Borrow a sauce pan from wife's kitchen. Put the stick on the pan (itself upside down). You could easily get overwhelmed like this:

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

A short summary of the current state on rc.4 with TLS 1.3 built-in. Some people experience a hung process or a crash. When a hung process happens, servstats page will appear loading and take a long while to timeout (e.g 26s). When it eventually timeout, a broken page is shown. When a hung...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

I don't have that link handy. I believe it's buried deep in this thread. I usually use cnn/foxnews/dailymail. Dailymail is pretty good. Stress tests are a good idea. One shot for two goals. What a good deal for you. Btw, thanks for tackling some of the questions in this thread. You should speak...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

That sounds very weird. A couple of people had been working hard on tests in the past few days on Discord. @jrmwvu04 is pretty much in good shape now. @Protik still got "random" crash/hang. Do you want to participate in Discord? Btw, thanks to all who responded to my calling today. Much...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

For people on rc.4, how is your runtime/stability so far? Here is mine. Note the "tls1_3" flag that indicates I'm running the static version with support for TLS 1.3 I added a paragraph "Indicator of TLS 1.3 support on servstats page" shortly after release. Some ppl might have missed and may...

Utterly non-sense you didn't look into it back then and reported such an issue 6 months later..

Entware Entware: which USB stick performs well?

Most likely a combination of USB host controller + driver in kernel issue. Have you tried: unplug power cord, plug in flash drive and then plug in power cord? Btw the data of this stick looks like new to my db. Thankyou. Another member got this stick and good result too...and he got it at...

Entware Entware: which USB stick performs well?

Very good iozone result! This is from the previous generation(s) of Samsung flash chips - the yellow EVO and the red EVO+. They also perform much better than the latest generation - the red EVO Plus...not "+". Confusing enough for consumers. The few flash stick/microsd cards mentioned recently...

No wonder Zuckerbird is getting so much unwanted attention from politicians in the recent years!

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

Can't rule out some firms will do it on purpose. Most likely it's not intended though. But rather the artefact of freely available blocklists that your adblock script pulls in. I can't emphasise more that you aren't simply better off with a larger block list. It increases your chance of hitting...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

FF v63 will be released in October. Actually Firefox is on the forefront of TLS 1.3 support as apparently they want to beat Google Chrome in every single way they could. Browsers are apparently still one major category of clients. However, Apps are taking HTTP traffic away from browsers. Users...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

The regular version of pixelserv-tls (built on top of OpenSSL 1.0.2) has been very stable for the past year. Very unlikely you'll see crash. If you're doing things right, make sure test properly and give me a reproducible case to fix any potential issue. The recent (in the past day or two)...
