Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

@Martinski I made the changes from your #47 pull request in my installed scribe script and I think there may be a problem. I think syslog-ng expects the version to be 4.7, not 4.7.1, so it fails to start. If you correct the conf file to 4.7, scribe corrects it to 4.7.1 and there you go again...

    System log not updating

Because the OP referred to /opt/var/log. That is only used by syslog-ng, so it had to be a scribe problem.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

On logrotate: scribe edits post-mount to create a cron job so logrotate runs daily. 4 old logs are kept, with 2-4 being compressed. /opt/etc/logrotate.conf sets a default of weekly rotation and then includes /opt/etc/logrotate.d /opt/etc/logrotate.d/A00global loads, and sets a maximum file...

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

This usually happens to me when one of the log files is too big. Check the files in that directory and see if any are over 1MB. If you find any, figure out why logrotate isn't rotating it. (Except dnsmasq and sysnet--they do their own). The other time it happens can usually be fixed by...

Entware Entware repository update: August 8, 2024

Yes. The problem is that this line sed -i "s/$sng_conf_vers.*/$sng_vers/" $sng_conf in the sync_conf() module seems to match to every line in the .conf file. All it is doing is updating the @version=4.x line to whatever the newest syslog-ng (in this case, 4.7.1) is, so that syslog-ng...

Not really paying attention to this, but killall klogd killall syslogd

Asuswrt Merlin: My working OpenVPN configuration for Bi-Directional VPN (router to router)

You don't need a bi-directional connection to send a Roku down the tunnel, and I haven't found an inbound rule necessary either. But certain apps on a streamer, particularly Amazon Prime, may need DNS set to "exclusive" if you are out of the country.

vpn problems in asuswrt merlin 3004.388.8

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm not sure if follow the misconfiguration. Site B client connects to Site A server with no NAT. My VPN director has a rule that specifies that every device that wants to reach the Site A Lan goes over the tunnel. Three more rules specify that specific...

vpn problems in asuswrt merlin 3004.388.8

No. In the highly constructive conversations going on between RMerlin and eibgrad, it sounded like neither had a site to site platform to evaluate their theories. I thought my data point might help them.

vpn problems in asuswrt merlin 3004.388.8

This may help. My site to site setup seems to be working: Site A: Ax88 with 388.7 with OpenVPN server. 192.168.50.0/24 LAN. (I don't have physical access to this router so I'm not updating it to .8 yet) Site B: AX86U Pro with 388.8 (and also the test build). 192.168.10.0/24 LAN. Site B...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

Only your friends will tell you....anyway, there seemed to be some focus on this area.

amtm Reinstalling Addons after a Router Hard Reset?

Having just done this on an AX86Pro, it was kind of all over the place. The SSD mounted. After activating scripts, none of them ran (presumably because none of the helper scripts were populated). AMTM said no scripts were installed. Using "ep", ATMT recognized the existing entwre install. Then I...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

This is kind of trivial, but when reinstalling everything from scratch on my ax88uPro, I noticed that the CLI prompts are inconsistent, sometimes "0/1", sometimes "y/n" and sometimes "0=No, 1=Yes". Would you like BACKUPMON to send you email notifications on backup success or failure, or...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_2 is now available

This isn't a complaint. Make sure you have a current backup of everything before you update. I went from .7 to .8 on an AX86 Pro with two openvpn clients with killswitches. Without a current backup. I lost everything, including the whole addon stuff on an SSD. I can't say I wasn't warned. :)...

388.7 “internet speed” missing from GUI with Wireguard VPN clients

Interesting. On an AX88, it seemed to work but part of the screen is blocked out--I could scroll a few lines at a time (that little dark band on your screenshot). On an AX86U Pro, it triggered a reboot, and then worked. Not going to try again. These two are joined site to site with OpenVPN, and...

Problem connecting to OpenVPN server on AX86U

#1, #2 and #3 aren't giving you any kind of test. Only #4 is worthwhile. So figuring out #1, #2 or #3 is a waste of your time. OpenVPN binds on all interfaces by default, so #1 and #2 are never leaving the LAN. I suspect any device on the LAN you might reach is not going through the OpenVPN...

Bug with corrupted passwords in OpenVPN Server

I thought my model/firmware combos might have shown up in my signature. Anyway, both are 388.7; one is an AX88 and the other an AX86Pro. It could be a change in the codebase from 386 to 388. The clientlists for both servers are the same, and I think always have been. My clients don't show up...

Bug with corrupted passwords in OpenVPN Server

I have eight defined in one, and two in another, and they aren't in nvram. I think they are stored in /etc, at least they appear there without passwords.

ASUS RT-AX86 Open VPN No LAN Access

So what is the client? If the client has compression set to on, and the router is either disabled or none, you can connect but no traffic will flow. You need both sides to have compression disabled, or both sides to have compression as none, or both sides to have compression on. Any other combos...

    vnStat [Solved] vnstat issue

    Here are the logging statements I've added to a fresh install of S33vnstat, which is a lot different than S32vnstat: #!/bin/sh # shellcheck disable=SC1091 # shellcheck disable=SC2034 # shellcheck disable=SC2086 if [ -f /opt/etc/init.d/S32vnstat ]; then /opt/etc/init.d/S32vnstat stop rm...
