System log not updating

I am having an issue where the System Log is not updating , I have restarted the router several times but its still not updating.

System Time in System Log / System info shows the correct time.

Looking in opt/var/log I see messages with a timestamp of 22/08/2024 09:43

I have tried several reboots but nothing changes .

When I did clicked Network Map / USB 3 / Apply , the router restarted and the time updated on Messages 22/08/2024 13:54

But they are still not updating now.

What's the size of /opt/var/log/messages? Ages ago I had one do similar - in that case messages eventually expanded to fill a 120GB ssd which I never noticed as I only look at the logs if there's a problem.
When did you last factory reset and build from scratch? I had to do the full reset when moving from 388.7 to 388.8.

This location isn't used by the System Log unless you're using the Scribe addon. Is this a Scribe problem?

My bad. Thought I saw scribe in the siggy.

Yup, scribe was the issue. Turned out the config file got corrupted.

Uninstall scribe flush config and re-install fixed it

I initially was looking at the log file due to another Issue I was having, At least it should log correctly now for troubleshooting this one.

Wow. I read that you were using scribe when it wasn't in your signature, then you confirm you were.

Because the OP referred to /opt/var/log. That is only used by syslog-ng, so it had to be a scribe problem.
