BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Why not? There is no absolute requirement to use scheduling, therefore I am simply backing up (manually, on demand) to a Windows shared folder. Sure, it would be nice to have this happen automatically on a schedule, but I have neither a NAS or PC running all the time.

Plans to migrate to OpenSSL 3.0?

It's funny, but I don’t remember making that conscious choice of 1024 or 2048 bit encryption when setting it up, but I'll take your word for it, as the firmware GUI doesn't expose those settings, presumably until you are actually renewing or setting things up for the first time (ie. -they aren't...

Plans to migrate to OpenSSL 3.0?

This is a bit of a drag to learn that even a relatively "recent" set of OpenVPN certificates and keys, generated in April of this year (using 384.2 firmware), still uses "only" 1024 bit encryption, rather than the current standard of 2048 bit encryption. Not sure if I want to go through the...

Wireguard Server - not showing connection status?

I seem to recall a long ago post where @RMerlin mentioned that this is completely normal and expected behavior for Wireguard: it is a stateless connection, and as such it doesn't "track" or log when clients connect or disconnect, which is the completely opposite behavior to OpenVPN. Perhaps he...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

On a related note to the above discussion; has anyone else had trouble trying to get this script to access a Windows UNC share where the username has a space in it (Firstname Lastname)? I can't get that to work, but haven't had time to fully test with alternate (share) usernames.

Solved LAN client running qBittorrent crashes gt-ax6000 (running Merlin 3004.388.4)

Just as another data point: I have had the same GT-AX6000 router for about 6 months, with Skynet (and a couple of countries blocked in there), and I have alternated between Diversion and AdAware Home, and I regularly use Qbittorrent as well with no issues/slowdowns or crashes whatsoever. I even...

    AdGuardHome no longer filters ads

I thought about adding my name into that "invitation only" list, but decided that @thelonelycoder seemed to have had more than enough volunteers quite quickly when it was first mentioned.

    AdGuardHome no longer filters ads

Thanks for the thoughtful response, that covers all my questions and concerns. Yes, I agree that perhaps AdguardHome does focus a little too strongly on adding new features with the potential cost of lower stabilty/reliability. I may switch back to Diversion with the coming updates, especially...

    AdGuardHome no longer filters ads

I find this so curious: as the primary coder that made it so simple to install AdguardHome onto our Asus routers, and provide a massive amout of support to those users, to now reveal (in several recent posts) that he isn't that fond of AdguardHome and seems to strongly prefer Diversion is very...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2_4 is now available for the GT-AXE11000

By the sound of the short "Yes" response, I suspect that we will not be hearing the details (security/proprietary/confidential/etc...).

Solved DNS resolution works for devices, but not router itself?

Really? Marked SOLVED, but no hints on how?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 beta is now available

In a nutshell, the newer 3006 versions enable the new "extended" or "Pro" features that Asus is introducing: configurable VLANs, etc. For more details head over to the (mostly) Beta (referred to as 9.0.0.6 series), sometimes regular Release release versions (referred to as 3.0.0.6 series), over...

    A vague question (sorry)

Or it might have been SCMerlin, but that has a different set of functions (more aligned with restarting some aspects of the router without a full reboot). It does also display much of the same info and controls within the GUI, see below...

    A vague question (sorry)

Not within the GUI, but via SSH, perhaps you were thinking of RTRMON, here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rtrmon-v1-56-june-24-2023-monitor-your-routers-health-new-amtm-network-conn-bandwidth-diag-port-scanner-gt-axe-ax-compatibility-speedtest.79738/

    Starting to despair

It's not often mentioned, but it's almost as if the only practical way to make use of these type of wifi analyzer apps is to only run them PRIOR to turning on your own AP/router: that way it won't be fooled into telling you that the worst/most crowded channel is the one closest to you (your...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

I'm absolutely floored that we are approaching the 5 year mark for Diversion, it seems like only yesterday that I was using and eagerly following the development of AB-Solution. Oh yeah... now I remember that the pandemic completely skewed my (or perhaps our?) sense of time.

Glad to see the new "Nerd mode", I heartily approve and count myself in.🤣

Release PATH not being set in SSH sessions

You aren't by chance running the SSH client called SmarTTY, are you? This software has been known to screw around with the PATH as recently as a year ago. I had this type of head scratching PATH error when using that software, and it took some much smarter people to advise me to move over to...

Connected peers in wireguard server dosen't show up.......

If I remember correctly, I believe @RMerlin addressed this some time ago: something about Wireguard being a "stateless" connection, so it inherently cannot track which clients are connected at any given time. A basic or fundamental limitation if you will.
