Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

192.168.77.30/24 is the same as 192.168.77.0/24 - I will include all IPs in that subnet. If you want the a single IP then you just use 192.168.77.30 You can use this tool to work out CIDR ranges. https://www.ipaddressguide.com/cidr

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

Thank you - appreciate the input and help. I do get what you are saying and I agree it is very simple - if it was consistent and reliable - which it is not. 1. Why are my wired clients jumping around from being connected to node and main router - this is not reliable behaviour. By your logic...

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

Thanks all but… These devices connected to the node by Ethernet flip between being connected to the node and router all the time so something is wrong. Hope you agree that this is not normal. If I change to wireless backhaul these clients are correctly identified as being connected to the...

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

Good work OP finding a solution to this quite specific use case. I don’t have this issue but I have enough other problems… My lesson is that I have spent too much money on ASUS kit that is ok but still consumer crap. I will hang in there with my mesh setup with wired backhaul. one node still...

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

So true. I think I will change everything over to ubiquity in a year or so once wifi 7 is out and not crazy $$$

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

I know I shouldn't look but I can't help it and it does bother me. haha. it's not a settling/time thing. I see these clients bounce back and forth between node and router for a few days now. It's just irritating that I spent hours under the house in the dirt to wire the node and I'm happy...

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

Note: This started after changing one of my mesh nodes from wifi backhaul to ethernet (so i'm confident its related to this change). I have 2 clients connected by ethernet (wired) to this node. When node is connected via wifi backhaul all is good and these wired clients say they are connected...

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Understood and not too worried about this. I only care about adblocking for clients that access the interweb via a browser and this seems to work well with my current setup.

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Thanks @Morris - understood. I see a split of around 85% to AGH / DNS1 and the remaining going to AGH / DNS 2. This is around what I wanted so I am happy with that but i will monitor. Overall I am happy with how my setup works - objective being adblocking not security/privacy - using dhcp/lan...

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Thanks. Do you have any thoughts on what to do so that DNS still functions when both my adguard server are down? This has never happened but it would be nice to come up with a solution for this

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Thanks Gary. I have 2 adguard home servers on my LAN. The primary server is a rpi3 dedicated to DNS and it uses unbound on same box as the upstream DNS server. The second adguard server is running in a docker on a different server rpi4. Setup works great overall. I do have advertise router IP...

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Hi all - I guess there are many ways to setup a local DNS adguard setup for merlin. Searching the forums, I think there are two common but simple approaches. 1 - Use WAN DNS settings to forward all client DNS requests to adguard home set WAN DNS to point to local adguard IPs turn on DNS...

Question Regarding Bandwidth Settings, 160MHz, and DFS

My 2 cents on this is... I have everything working well with 5G channel 36 fixed at 160MHz with 388.4 merlin. My nodes and capable clients all connect at 160MHz. No interference. No DFS events but... I don't see any real world speed difference on my network (1G LAN). I find it annoying...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

I have a similar setup in terms of equipment - RT-AX86S with 2 nodes (RT-AX3000 and RT-AX58U) and I am not getting any random/scheduled reboots on either of my nodes. Haven't read all the post/comments but have you done a factory reset on the node and re-added to the main router?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

@Morris - I had the same issue with the beta. The issue was that i had set fixed channel 36 for 5g band. I fixed the issue by switching to auto on 5g and it was resolved. Maybe there is an issue with AX86U/S with the this GPL and fixed channel 36 on 5g

Asus RT-AX58u with 1 Gig Wifi and my wifi is super slow at times. Want the best settings in DNS, Professional section, etc. Could use help please!?

Sorry I forgot to say that DNS settings not going to make your wifi/speed noticeably faster either. We can get to that once you get the basics sorted. It is strange that you can't get close to your 1g connection speed even with ethernet. You might have QOS enabled (and if so it will be causing...

Asus RT-AX58u with 1 Gig Wifi and my wifi is super slow at times. Want the best settings in DNS, Professional section, etc. Could use help please!?

I think you might have over complicated your wifi/network settings and I don't know what advanced settings you have changed. I would say the best thing to do from here is to start from scratch and set it up nice and simple. When you say 1 gig wifi - what do you mean? Is this the speed of your...

    mDNs / Bonjour / Multicast

@Donga120 - sorry to hear that you are having these issues. I have been struggling with this issue for 2 years (on and off) and have never really found the underlying issue or a 100% solution. See thread below for some more info that may help somewhat. In my many tests and struggles here is...

much higher buffer bloat on 2.4g compared to 5g

Haha. So true. I’ve had no issues with cake QOS and now I see how things go without any QOS. I will stop testing in any case. Now I know it’s normal to get worse buffer bloat scores on 2.4g it is all good. Thanks again everyone!
