Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

Thank you for the link. I thought the issue had been corrected (via "u" or reinstall), after such a long thread (five pages). I have George Jetson syndrome, which limits my technical knowledge to pushing a button ;)

Router Upgrade with Wireless VLAN capability

Never, Not Ever, will I tempt The Wife to consider her feelings towards me! Get the 6000 or the EVA whichever cost less: - RMerlin supported and works Great. - can be found for significant savings.

    AC86U overheating

@Tech9 do you recommend specifically the brand of Tylenol or is generic acetaminophen fine to use? The amount of modifications that people have gone through to achieve lower temperatures amazes me. My AC86 purchased May 2018 (formerly my Main router), and without any additional cooling. I...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

That brief moment of thread silence was enjoyable. I was just doing my part to get this thread back on topic, so I don't get notices regarding this thread that don't truly pertain to the router GT-BE98. I just stopped watching this thread, and wait for information regarding the GT-BE98.

    upgrade from RT-AX86U to GT-AX6000?

To clarify, my rec for the 6000 v AX86 is based on - newer/faster cpu - The current price of the 6000 seems negligible, if buying now and only comparing the two routers. Also, the poster mentioned using the two 86s as attached mesh units with a 6000 as Main. Although I do not use mesh, I would...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

I don't intend to interrupt this stimulating fork of the original thread title, but do any of you knowledgeable persons have a reliable release date of the GT-BE98 for North American distribution?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

2+ days, after dirty upgrades through testing FWs, a few observations: - no issues with lan/wan - having never used a vpn on router, until these testing FWs, I am pleased with the speeds and ease of setup - using the 160Mhz seems to be working well with capable laptops. Disclosure, I rarely look...

    upgrade from RT-AX86U to GT-AX6000?

As previously stated in this thread, the 6000 is reduced in cost Amazon (US) $235, as of posting. I own, and recommend the 6000 with RMerlin fw!

Home network layout with NAS - please advise

@solesurvivor81 Surveillance Station v9 My previous link was the technical end of SS, and this new link should "show" more clearly the abilities of SS on your 920+. Your Alexa requirement is easily overcome.

Home network layout with NAS - please advise

IMHO, that swann system seems low rent compared to your other hardware. The 920+ is able to use Surveillance Station and that will free-up space inside your rack, and allow significantly better cameras. I use WD REDs in our 918+ without issues. Max your memory on your 920, I have my ram at the...

    GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U PRO

My 6000 is located so high, that I never see it from those angles. As previously posted, other than a different design and flashy gold accents, What Does The AX88U "Pro" offer, since it seems a step-down from the 6000 technically?

    Recommendation wireless home system

I agree with your statement, yet there you are setting such a high standard ;)

    Recommendation wireless home system

Four APs in such a small area, although set to low, seems excessive, but different situations require different tools. Living in the USA we are fortunate enough to have a such poor building standards that our 6000 covers 233sqm of our poor built single level palatial estate ;) I placed household...

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

Keeping in mind, that all wireless is Asus and NOT RMerlin, perhaps it's time to upgrade? We've experienced Zero Issues with our 4+ year-old AC86U on RMerlin fw! When hw issues arise in the AC86U, I will recycle it appropriately, and move my 6000 to the AP position, thus forcing me to buy a new...

    GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U PRO

Agreed, the 6000 would be a sight wall mounted. I have mine located high on a shelf in a centrally located "media closet", and zero issues with WAN/LAN.

    GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U PRO

Return the 88pro, and give the GT-AX6000 a try ;)

New NAS required(?)- all views welcome. Thanks

Synology has IMHO better software, but is far behind in hardware (923+ has 1Gbe and an upgrade for 10Gbe must be purchased), and that is pitiful. 🤫 Now keep quiet, or @L&LD will show up with his QNAP praise.

New NAS required(?)- all views welcome. Thanks

@radders I had a WD MyCloud, the white single drive model, and moved to the Synology DS-918+. Being a NAS neophyte I am glad that I went with an established NAS company. Currently, I have two teenagers streaming movies and entire Family has their own "private cloud" for storage.
