Selecting a HDD for (a kind of) NAS

I am running 2 of the 4TB Skyhawk drives in my Plex server. They are setup as a mirrored set. No complaints so far.

RT-AC86U and TUF-AX3000 with AiMesh - Help wanted to diagnose reason for dropped packets

I know this is a little late, but I learned the hard way a long time ago to take screenshots of your factory base settings before making changes.

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover Script ***v1.6.0 Released***

When I was running this script, I had better luck if I manually set the WAN IP addresses instead of using WAN DHCP settings.

    Force different wifi-channels in Aimesh

If all nodes are wired, your other option is to run the nodes in AP mode not AiMesh mode. This will give you the ability to set different wifi channels on each unit. There are pros and cons to using this topology, such as no longer having a single management interface.

    AC86U - Two questions

Or you can press the button on the right side that disables wifi radios. :) That is what I do. It makes it easy to re-enable the wifi in the event I need to access the unit directly without having to connect to it via an ethernet port.

Skynet Show Country Names instead of Codes?

Yes, network “monitoring” has changed a lot since the days of https://www.ipcop.org/ :)

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 beta is now available for AC models

Sorry about getting off topic. As a final note, I just dropped off the RT-AX86U at the UPS Store to send back to Amazon. I put my AC86U back online and I am sticking with it for now. I am not saying this is my “final” solution but it is a simple, reliable setup.

    Buy rt ax86u

I liked the GT-AX6000 but its looks are not wife friendly, at least not my wife and she’s the only one that matters to me. :)

    RT-AC86U best merlin firmware

Nothing will solve temperature “issues” on the AC86U except modifying the heat sink for better contact or using a fan. This latest Beta is the best firmware to date for the AC86U.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 beta is now available for AC models

This setup on the AC86U had been working so well, I postponed sending the AX86U back. I decided to load 388.1 on it and recreate my AC86U setup on the AX86U to see how it performs. After 24 hours I must say I am pleasently surprised. It has been working without any issues. I still have until...

    AdGuardHome Asuswrt-Merlin-AdGuardHome-Installer (AMAGHI) cont.

This is the reason I use YazDHCP when running Asus routers with RMerlin firmware. I assign all devices IPs in DHCP and if you need to do a full router reset, you can reinstall YazDHCP and import your saved static assignments. It usually takes a little time for the hostnames to fully update...
