    Be careful that 13 year old router is not supported and is massively riddled with security issues. Using it would be a huge risk. Good Luck !!

    Are you having issues with it ? As stated not seeing many if any complaints on the link you posted. As for me other then the system log spam i have not had a single disconnect or any problems what so ever with the latest.

    Merlin firmware as you know has enhanced features but is also based on Asus stock firmware. Most like Merlin's build better. But if your just looking for a good router with out the extra stuff Asus stock firmware is ok to.

    Asus just released a new build for the 3100 and for me it works good. But it does have excessive system logging going on. Merlins latest 380.68 has mostly good reviews. It's really up to you. Both new builds have security updates. Good luck with your 3100 i bought mine back in November of 2015...

    3100 here but basically the same router and i am not having any of the issues you describe except very excessive logging. Strange indeed how some have issues and others do not. This seems on par with all firmware updates Merlin builds included. o_O BTW you should be resetting and clearing...

    When in rescue mode you have to load a known good firmware if you try to reload the faulty one it will fail.
