YazFi Guest Network with YazFi assigning LAN IPs, not the IPs of my guest settings.

So my current plan is to not use a guest network, and have DHCP reservations for my IoT devices so they always get the same IP. I am doing some preliminary testing with IPtables and I'm having no luck. Just to test if I could use IPtables to block a client from accessing other devices on the...

YazFi Guest Network with YazFi assigning LAN IPs, not the IPs of my guest settings.

How do you mean? If I need to use AI mesh would your suggestion still work? I may not have time today but I need to start experimenting with blocking certain IoT devices from accessing other devices on the LAN, only allowing Internet access via iptables. In my case with no guest network, all...

YazFi Guest Network with YazFi assigning LAN IPs, not the IPs of my guest settings.

But I can't use YazFi with AI Mesh. I currently need AI mesh for dead spots in wifi coverage at my house.

Guest network (IoT) and network time

They are both on the latest firmware. In my signature. Are you using AI mesh?

Guest network (IoT) and network time

I used the WL command initially. It's in the code snip I posted above. Yes I rebooted both of them after I enabled the guest 1. That is what I was referring to in post #25. I had enabled the guest 1 and rebooted both.

Guest network (IoT) and network time

Unfortunately I don't think this is going to work with AI mesh. I issued the commands, and connected my mac to the guest network and I am not able to ping any of the devices on the guest network. # wl -i wl0.1 ap_isolate 0 jorg@RT-AX88U-F610:/jffs/scripts# nvram show | grep -i isolate...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

The issue is that wl0.1_ap_isolate=0 is set to 0 on the node router without me having changed anything. I haven't issued the command to change it from a 1 to a 0 yet, and I haven't added it to any scripts. It's just set that way by default even though I have guest network on, set to sync to mesh...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

Crap, even after a reboot, running 'nvram show | grep -i isolate' on the mesh node AX58U it still doesn't seem like this is going to work. AX58U-8670:/jffs/scripts# nvram show | grep -i isolate size: 79378 bytes (51694 left) wl0.1_ap_isolate=0 wl0.2_ap_isolate=1 wl0.3_ap_isolate=0...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

    So all I need to do is add wl -i wl0.1 ap_isolate 0 To a script in /jffs/scripts/ and it will run every boot? For instance, my 'init-start' script: # cat init-start #!/bin/sh /jffs/scripts/init2-start sh /jffs/addons/unbound/stuning start # unbound_manager wl -i wl0.1...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

Perhaps I need to reboot them. I don't think I did that after I enabled guest wifi.

Guest network (IoT) and network time

Real quick before I do that, I was able to SSH into the node router (AX58U). This one has different values for nvram isolate. Lol @RT-AX58U-8670:/tmp/home/root# nvram show | grep -i isolate size: 79304 bytes (51768 left) wl0.1_ap_isolate=0 wl0.2_ap_isolate=1 wl0.3_ap_isolate=0...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

I'm running Merlin on both. But I didn't know I needed to make changes on the node. I just access it via SSH? Odd. Because when guest net was disabled "wl_ap_isolate=0" was set to 0. Now, with guest net enabled, I have "wl_ap_isolate=1" This is neither my main WLAN because I can still get to...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

Alright I've got the guest network 1 2.4 GHz up and running with the following settings: I have 3 devices connected to it: A Macbook Laptop for testing A Ring Doorbell A smart (but also stupid) thermostat I confirmed I cannot ping the other two devices from the Mac. I can access the...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

I will give this a shot but I have some questions first: 1. I need to turn guest network 1 back on. I only plan to use 2.4 GHz as most IoT devices only support 2.4 anyway. When I turn it back on, am I setting "Access to Intranet" to disabled, and also so that I can use my AI Mesh system, I am...

    Asus AIMesh Guest network issues

I know this is and old post but this is a bummer to read, as this is my exact setup. AX88U as main router, AX58U as AI-mesh node, wireless backhaul (don't know how I'd manage to wire them together). And I am experiencing the same issues with the guest network as many others are stating from back...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

After disabling the guest network I ran the unbound update config through amtm and that was able to fix it. Now unbound + AGH is working. Just don't have a guest network for IoT devices. It does sound like YazFi is the easiest solution but I am using AI mesh. Which means in YazFi I need the...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

Well I've broken something. I uninstalled YazFi and have had problems ever since. I enabled guest network 1, disabled access to the intranet, and rebooted the router. Devices on the guest network couldn't even get out to the Internet. I connected a laptop to it, and tried connecting my security...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

You mean that disabling the "access intranet" setting enables AP Isolation and blocks guest to LAN communication? I just uninstalled YazFi, and disabled "Access Intranet" on the Guest Network slot #1. Is there a way to allow the clients on the guest network to talk to each other? But not access...

Guest network (IoT) and network time

So the guest network will work in AI Mesh node as long we don't run YazFi? I was under the assumption that this setting would allow the clients on the guest network to talk to each other on the guest net and not give them access to the non-guest LAN. That would be how I'd prefer it. I would...

YazFi Guest Network with YazFi assigning LAN IPs, not the IPs of my guest settings.

For using IPtables rules via SSH on the router, would I have to add each IPtables command line-by-line to a startup script (eg. firewall-start)? Or is there a better way of doing it?
