    AiMesh node from LAN port?

If you have a wired backhaul available just use AP mode and dump AiMesh. For ME PERSONALLY, I find more disadvantage than advantage using AiMesh that are well documented in many threads (fixed radio channels, lack of node control, ...). I can't recall if AP mode requires an active WAN port but...

    ASUS RT-AC3100 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.81116

I applied this update a couple days ago and haven't noticed any issues on either of my AC3100's. It's also available by using the GUI (check for update) if you don't want to manually DL it (or at least ti was when I updated).

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.81049

Buy a wired network dongle. A must have for a number of years!

How do you turn off AiMesh mode?

ALL ANECDOTAL HERE I can say that I found too many strange behaviors when I abandoned AiMesh and made my other routers wired APs. It was as though enabling an AiMesh node set some things on the main node that could only be unset through a factory reset. After wasting WAY too much time on the...

How do you turn off AiMesh mode?

I personally would do a complete reset to factory and use new passwords, ... I found it easier than trying to mess around when I abandoned AiMesh after trying it.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81039

My two AC68's that I updated are used as wired backhaul APs and "fringe" to my core use. Most taxing thing I can think of is serving the ROKU Stick+ in the master (MPEG2 streaming for live TV). It also serves the Stick+ in the master bath and both have been in use at the same time/same...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81039

Mine looks pretty similar on both APs. I even changed the scan to 1 second and nothing popped out at me. It is odd that if I switch to a different browser tab for a period of time and then come back the spikes are much lower for the time the tab did not have "focus". I'm stumped but that...

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81039

I've got a couple AC68's as APs that look similar. About every 5 seconds one of the CPUs jumps to 50% or more for about a second and then they return to near idle. Very repetitive pattern and very consistent between the APs.

    ASUS AiMesh Reviewed

If you have an ethernet backhaul switch over to AP mode for the secondary node(s). Much more control and flexibility. I wouldn't use AiMesh unless it was my last choice.

optimizing roaming between APs sharing the same SSID

Switching APs is more a client function than an AP function. Look for settings in your NIC setup like "Roaming Aggressiveness" .... https://blogs.cisco.com/wireless/wi-fi-roaming-101

    WOL working intermittently

If the MOBO had an Intel NIC, the interactions between power states and WOL are pretty well defined on the Intel website (provided the BIOS maker followed "the script"). If you've got another slot you may find a NIC that supports WOL to play with. Just tossing out options other than new MOBO...

    WOL working intermittently

WOL magic packets are not routable. Don't know for a fact but I'll bet your repeater (guessing you mean switch if wired) is dropping the magic packet. There's not exactly a "uniform code of magic packet handling" ;) Welcome to WOL, the mechanism of last resort IMO. If you're really trying to...

    RT-AC3100 CFE mini web

In the wee hours of the morning I was confronted by the dreaded "NO INTERNET CONNECTION" on my browser. Hmm, do I go to bed or do I investigate :) I connected to my router (RT-AC3100) and was confronted by the CFE miniWeb page. I selected reboot and a few minutes later all was well. Things...

Have an Asus RT-1900P - would like to purchase another router for AIMesh

As far as I've been told, you can buy these and put a COAX between the two for a 200Mb link. I've got a pair someplace in my parts closet but I"m sure someone here will correct me if this is wrong. My info came from the DBS forums a few years ago when I was helping a neighbor do a similar...

Have an Asus RT-1900P - would like to purchase another router for AIMesh

When you say there is no way to extend the wired network, do you mean you've considered the following relatively low cost solutions in that statement (especially if you've got another AP already)? Pulling another ethernet cable (cost of cable and a couple outlets) Using MOCA adapters on...

    AC3100 log spam

Also, I also set 2.4Ghz to 20MHz channels. It solves a LOT of "unusual behavior", at least for my use. Try this with a fixed channel assignment and see what happens.

    AC3100 log spam

Do you have any WiFi direct devices like remotes (Vizio, ROKU, other)? They "follow" the channel used by the device and can show up as "interference" maybe tricking the Auto select into thinking a conflict exists???? Just guessing. I use assigned channels on both my AC3100's and don't see...

    Cheapest supported router for AIMesh?

I'm not sure I completely follow what you're trying to say but I can tell you that administering a separate AP is no more complicated than managing an AiMesh setup. With respect to frequency sharing, if you need the AP to increase range then you're presumably far enough away from the first...

    Cheapest supported router for AIMesh?

Hopefully you've first done your homework on AiMesh and know exactly WHY you think you need it. If it's just to extend coverage, is their any way you can link the two routers by wire? If so I'd highly recommend you do that and then buy any router that can be used as an AP (which is just about...
