    Try ddwrt or openwrt? Or Get a pi4 with pi hole and use that as your dhcp? I use a pc with pfsense, and it avoids all issues as my routers just act as wifi aps.

    Mikrotik switch with 10gbe spfs. Or used ebay one (www.servethehome.com for more info). For a router, i would build my own pfsense box. Again, old pc or used one with intel lan cards. Using a ryzen 3200g with 16gb,120gb ssd, dual. Intel lan as my pfsense box. Got pi hole running on a pi 3.

    true, would be interesting through - same laptop - swap from intel 3168 to a 9260, any real benefit? maybe try different antennas?

    Dual wan access point

    setup a pc using pfsense as your dual wan router - something with a cpu that has aes-ni and multiple intel nics. you can use ipfire, etc as well use something with ddwrt as your AP where you at in ontario that you can only get thaqt crappy internet? got rogers gigabit here in mississauga

    [SOLVED] I bought R7000 and ac68u. Which to return?

    Keep the r7000 and flash ddwrt. Better built router. Follow the guide on the ddwrt forum. I suggest the kong builds. I suggest adding a laptop cooler below it and running it off the USB on the back. There is a merlin Asus WRT port for it, but ddwrt is better in my opinion.

    pfsense 2.2 build with squid3 transparent proxy, etc

    can you do a pfsense 2.2 build article, and walk people through setting up squid 3 as a transparent proxy, snort, etc ? either on older hardware such as a core2 being recycled into a router, or newer low power hardware such as say an athlon 5350, etc.

    build a pfsense box, see their forum for more info. an old athlon 64 or core 2 pc will do, you may just need to add some intel lan cards for the various interfaces.

    build a pfsense box using older and/or inexpensive parts. just ensure that you use intel lan cards (from ebay is fine). www.pfsense.com this will make the load balancing,etc all work properly basically a pc converted to a freebsd based router

    SOHO netork changes - need help!

    I should add, the new server has vmware and is a freenas and win2012 server box. basically i want to use vlans to limit who can access what on the said server.
