DNS from LAN to router: "server failed"

Thanks! So - is the problem in the router, in the dns server, or in Comcast somewhere?

DNS from LAN to router: "server failed"

If I nslookup static.digital.business.comcast.com from a LAN computer using router's DNS, the result is "server failed" If I do the same using external DNS used by the router (75.75.75.75), it works. If I nslookup it from the router itself, at the page "network tools", it works. How to...

384.6 Now sharing data to Trend Micro?

Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but TrendMicro can't see the content of your browsing. It can see the destinations, and the ports, but content itself is encrypted. Since Snowden, pretty much all web traffic has become encrypted (i.e going via https rather than http), and the router does...

Web History: fixed, but filtering does not work

It looks like Web History under Adaptive QoS has been fixed, and now shows the entries in chronological order. But there's a little problem: the dropdown filtering it by the client does not work. The list gets filtered for a short instant, but in the next one it's showing all clients again.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I don't want to come across as too arrogant or too lazy, but I thought that something that calls itself "adaptive" is expected to work without me tweaking it, or in fact, even understanding the inner details of it. I did not tweak it in order to recognize Epic Games and Spotify.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I meant, on some "global" basis. Even if I succeed doing it today on this particular download, tomorrow it may be another port. Adaptive QoS is smart enough to recognize Amazon Cloudfront, Epic Games,Spotify, and so on (I have not idea how - by their IP's?), so I'm wondering why it does not...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

For the last 2 hours, family member is downloading game update on Steam, consuming pretty much all bandwidth. In the router, this traffic appears as "HTTP Protocol over TLS SSL", rather than something related to file download, so it probably has more priority than it should. Can this be adjusted...

False "internet status: disconnected" in Network Map

Your questions guided me to the solution. In the router I specified DNS servers from GreenTeamDNS, and apparently the primary one is down (which did not result in any noticeable problem). Once I changed that, the problem is gone. Thanks!

Transmission - "could not connect to tracker"

I installed Transmission, following https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Installing-Transmission-through-Entware , but when I try to download a torrent, Transmission can't connect to any trackers. Torrent client on a computer in the LAN downloads the same torrent OK, successfully...

False "internet status: disconnected" in Network Map

While the router works OK, Network Map shows When the page is opening, I see that the actual values are showing up for a fraction of second - IP address etc. - but almost instantly they are replaced by "disconnected". I saw a post about this problem 2 years ago, but in that case the user...

Does not see the network in "802.11ac Only"

If I set the setting "Wireless Mode" on the wireless adapter to "IEEE802.11ac Only", it does not see my network. It sees it if I set Wireless Mode to "802.11a/n/ac". The router is AC68P with 383.13

    Sorting in Web History

Then perhaps you could tell Asus, using your channels. It sure looks like an oversight.

ISP's DHCP did not function properly

If so, then perhaps the improvement might be in more detailed error message, pointing the user to the real cause. The firmware does know what it did not like, which led to showing this message, so why not to tell.

    Sorting in Web History

The entries in Adaptive QoS/Web History are sorted by domain name, which makes it pretty much useless. Would it be possible to sort them by the column "Access Time" in descending order, or perhaps to make the list sortable by clicking on column headers, remembering the last choice?

ISP's DHCP did not function properly

Whenever there's some change with the cable modem, when it reboots and, perhaps, acquires new dynamic IP from the provider Comcast, it's followed by AC-68P being unable to establish WAN connection, with the message "ISP's DHCP did not function properly." This is always eventually fixed, usually...

"No NSS support for mDNS detected" in the log

Is this line in the log something to worry about? May 5 00:05:09 avahi-daemon[251]: WARNING: No NSS support for mDNS detected, consider installing nss-mdns!

    Disallowing access to clients

    Thanks, that was it.

    Disallowing access to clients

in UI / Network Map, when I click on "View List" and see popup window with the clients, the icon on the left has tooltip "Allow internet access", which looks like it could be somehow disallowed here, but it's not clickable. I have a feeling that in the past it was, and some clients could be...
