Best method for reloading settings after wipe?

I've been out of the loop a couple years, and it's looking like time to wipe my AC86U and reload fresh, having some weird rebooting issues. In the past, I've tried to screenshot every page and use those to go through and manually re-enter the settings, because last time I looked, re-loading...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.10 is now available for AC models

Sorry to reply so late, but the latest version of scribe, if you allow it to update the filters, includes a filter (in /opt/share/syslog-ng/examples) and a logrotate file (in /opt/share/logrotate/examples) called 'meshUDB' That will filter out the 'not mesh client' and 'not exist in UDB' messages.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

    So, syslog-ng sees the logger -t tag as the "program", so I think something like: destination d_arussdtrim { file("/opt/var/log/arusedtrim.log"); }; filter f_arussdtrim { program("aru-ssd-trim"); }; log { source(src); filter(f_arussdtrim); destination(d_arussdtrim)...

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

LOL, no that's a separate issue from this 5 page thread. This 5 page thread was about an issue with certain routers moving the default location of syslog.log from /tmp to /jffs. THAT thread is about a problem caused by the simplified opkg package manager that didn't pick up all the...

Scribe General: would a few people verify firmware binary locations?

Yep, I think that's what I need to do. Time to revert all the explicit paths, lol. sed, here I come!

Scribe General: would a few people verify firmware binary locations?

No. I should close this thread ... not sure I can though, lol.

Scribe General: would a few people verify firmware binary locations?

Okay, that makes more sense then, it only affects the script it's in and any scripts / programs called by that script. But once the original script terminates, it reverts to how it was before. So downstream only, not upstream. OH! Just dawned on me then that's why .profile is persistent...

Scribe General: would a few people verify firmware binary locations?

Ahhhh, I thought about that but then I was confused (at it was late so I didn't run a simple test) about the effects of export. I thought because exports in .profile were "permanent" then exports in any script would affect the user after the program ended. But a simple test script proved that...

Scribe General: would a few people verify firmware binary locations?

We recently discovered that not every router has the "nvram" binary in the same location. Mine (AC86U) is in /bin. Apparently at least in the AC68U, nvram is in /usr/sbin. When writing scribe, to prevent other installed entware programs from interfering, I tried to explicitly call most...

Scribe Unable to install Scribe 3.0_2 via amtm or command line

Sorry, I can't win lately. It's fixed now in 3.0_6

Scribe Unable to install Scribe 3.0_2 via amtm or command line

LOL, fixed one problem, broke another. I put explicit paths to almost everything because of the issue with grep when it found entware's grep instead of the firmware's. So yeah, fairly recent addition. FWIW, the AC86U (at least to version 386.9) has nvram in /bin, I hardly expected The Spanish...

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

Wow, that's gutsy doing stuff like this over VPN. Hats off to you sir!

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

HOOORAY!!! Thank you SO MUCH for being my remote test router, lol. I know it's after midnight there, I appreciate you staying up. I'm gonna pull out the code that makes the scribelog file and tag it master, you can update at your leisure, the only "real" difference is the scribelog file.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

Okay, so it looks like that fixed it! In both instances /jffs/syslog.log is a link, as it should be. Okay, last time (fingers crossed), update gamma (it should be 3.0_5) and use 'rs' from the menu. I've removed the menu_stop so hopefully restart will work correctly, since it worked...

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

It was weird, github desktop wash showing everything pushed, but when I went to github on the web it wasn't there. So I've pushed another tiny change to scribe and now it's showing updated on the web (at least for me).

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

Nevermind, I see what happened. A change didn't push for some reason.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

Run scribe again and see if it's there now. I've heard sometimes it takes a while to propagate across github's servers. It should have said there is a minor update to 3.0.4.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

    Okay, that's weird, the /opt/etc/init.d/S01syslog-ng file didn't update ... I don't get it.

Scribe Unable to install Scribe 3.0_2 via amtm or command line

    I wonder ... @elorimer, what do you get with: ls -l /opt/bin/opkg /bin/nvram get buildno /bin/uname -o
