    ASUS wireguard and VPN clients

You should always have one config per device in case you have to revoke it. Having multiple devices connected using the same config (client) is going to have issues and slowdowns.

Router insists it wants to start a new setup (RT-AX58U) when I try to log in?

SSH/telnet to the router and execute these: nvram set x_Setting=1 nvram set w_Setting=1 nvram commit These 2 variables force the redirect in index.asp page if set to 0.

Using WireGuard on a mobile phone

For Automate you have to download a workflow, there is in-app "store" of community-made workflows. Automate is definitely not new user friendly.

Using WireGuard on a mobile phone

If your phone is using Android you can use Tasker or Automate to automatically switch specific tunnel profile on and off depending on which WiFi network you're connected to. iOS probably has the same capability.

You could make it a bit harder by preventing them from accessing known DNS ports (53 TCP/UDP, 853 TCP, 443 TCP)...

    Release ASUS RT-AX3000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23403 (2023/05/31)

I don't think any of this stuff is getting copied - I believe Asus scripts mount asusware.* as /tmp/opt directory making symlinks in /opt point to the correct directories for the Asus' Optware to work. It also unmounts those when the media is ejected.

    Release ASUS RT-AX3000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23403 (2023/05/31)

I am unsure about the format, tested only with ext2 because that's what I'm using in my script on the Pi Zero. (for clarity: Pi Zero pretends to be a mass storage device with 1MB partition containing the workaround stuff, code) Before I figured this out I had to (obviously) install Download...

    Release ASUS RT-AX3000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23403 (2023/05/31)

I can confirm this on AX58U v2, this is major inconvenience for me because I'm connecting my Pi Zero through USB (running Pi-hole) this way. I figured out a workaround for this though:
