    Which router should i buy?

That's precisely what RMerlin has been talking about... and that's why he advised the 3 router setup. NAT requires port-forwarding for external hosts to access internal hosts.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

scp encrypts all traffic, so devices with slow processors will struggle, which may be part of the problem. Maybe try some unencrypted protocols like FTP or NFS?
  3. Nullity

    Which router should i buy?

With the default (NAT, no port-forwards) 3 router setup, neither of the leaf routers can access the other leaf router's networks. If only 2 are used then the 2nd network can access the entire upstream network. IPv6 likely makes things more complex because of the possible lack of NAT.

Is it possible to write to /www ?

You could run nginx or some other HTTPd. You could even use a simple bash script or netcat to serve up a static file via HTTP.

Is it possible to write to /www ?

Why not run something like iperf?

Switch works but does not show on router

When using a mix of DHCP and static, it's probably more common to limit the DHCP pool (to *.1 through *.200 for example) and use the IPs outside of the pool for static IP assignment. You probably should not use static & DHCP (reserved or otherwise) on the same IP. Seems like a potential...

Low OpenVPN upload speed, RT-AC66U, Merlin

I think OpenVPN is single-threaded, meaning it will only use one CPU, but I could be wrong...

RT-N66U to transform wireless to ethernet?

I think Asus calls that "Media Bridge" mode.

Switch works but does not show on router

Personally, if there's no other problems, I'd forget about the device not showing in Draytek's device listing. Is there some functionality that you are wanting that is not working?
  12. Nullity

Switch works but does not show on router

If you config static IP at the client, the router never sees any DHCP activity, which may be why the device is not showing up. I dunno how the Draytek populates the list, but it may rely on DHCP assignment.
  13. Nullity

Switch works but does not show on router

I'd forego the static IP assignment at the client and completely rely on DHCP reservation, unless you have a good reason to do otherwise.
  14. Nullity

Switch works but does not show on router

Can you access the managed switch by surfing to it's IP? Did you set the IP as static at the Netgear device itself or did you setup a DHCP reserved IP at the router?

Low OpenVPN upload speed, RT-AC66U, Merlin

It's not that the Asus has a "problem", it's that the Asus CPU is that much slower at encryption than a PC-grade CPU. Unless you require a router that is capable of 200Mbit VPN speeds, I would simply use the PC as the client. If you really need a router capable of those VPN speeds, you can...

Does the torrent client not support scheduling? I think rtorrent has that feature.

[RT-AC66R] WiFi is slow - should I install new FW?

Have you tried resetting the AP to the Factory Defaults? I know I've commited the "all defaults are obviously sub-optimal" sin and changed numerous WiFi settings when I had no real understanding of how it might impact performance. :( Also, iperf is my preferred nethod of benchmarking...

N66U-Running slow when connected to VPN

Is the RT-N66U acting as the VPN client/server? If so, very low speeds are expected because the CPU on the device is very slow.

[RT-AC66R] WiFi is slow - should I install new FW?

The max real-world speed of USB 2.0 is 280Mbit, which seems to be far below what a 2x2 802.11ac link should be capable of. IIRC, Merlin benchmarked his Nexus 9 (2x2?) connected to his RT-AC68U at over 700Mbit real-world throughput. (I dunno any other real-world results off the top of my...

[RT-AC66R] WiFi is slow - should I install new FW?

Just for reference, with my (ancient) Linux laptop and an Asus USB-N53 WiFi adapter I could achieve ~120Mbit with my RT-N66U, IIRC. My Nexus 9 can achieve ~160Mbit with that same RT-N66U. If I were to buy another USB WiFi adapter, I would check out what chipsets are "best" through wikidevi.com...
