    Newbie MoCA questions

The PHY rates for the MoCA 2.5 link are abysmal; should be up near 3500 Mbps for a 5-channel connection. You might try experimenting with the adapters direct connected, or some other means allowing them to connect bypassing the amplifier. (Then upgrading to an amp designed for MoCA.)

    Newbie MoCA questions

No idea. I was just confirming that iPerf needed parallel streams to max the throughput; couldn’t suggest why. And it would seem to be particular to something about iPerf testing, else people would have real issues with MoCA, generally.

    Newbie MoCA questions

This is common with iPerf testing of MoCA; 4+ parallel streams are required when using iPerf. Maybe @gocoax can shed some light on why. Given your cabling and device locations, it would be preferable to split the cable modem signal off prior to the amplifier using a 2-way splitter, then...

    MOCA issues with Xfinity

Assume that it will. Install a 70 dB MoCA filter directly on the XB8 to block any MoCA signals to/from the XB8. Others have similarly reported difficulty keeping the Xfinity gateway MoCA LAN bridge disabled. The MoCA filter will isolate the gateway from your MoCA setup, regardless of the state...

Advice on correct splitter / IDing cables for MOCA 2.5 setup

I'd say you could just lay the plan out for the owner to handle, but fear they'd bump your rent immediately after the network upgrade; and it doesn't sound like someone who'd readily see the value added by the "easier to ask forgiveness" upgrade.

Advice on correct splitter / IDing cables for MOCA 2.5 setup

Almost certainly the case, then; maybe even a couple lines per box depending on the number of coax wallplates you have. (11+ Cat5+ lines minimum running in-wall to the rooms) It may seem daunting, but it's really paint-by-numbers simple using RJ45 keystone jacks. They come with a color legend...

Advice on correct splitter / IDing cables for MOCA 2.5 setup

I can accept that there aren't any jacks installed, but find it difficult to believe that the cables aren't just sitting in the outlet boxes, hidden behind the wallplates ... sitting in the dark, wondering if anyone will ever come rescue them. Have you opened any/all of the non-power wallplates...

Advice on correct splitter / IDing cables for MOCA 2.5 setup

No reason it shouldn't. You'll just want a direct-connect between the fiber ONT and your router's Ethernet WAN port ... no splitters or filters, just 3 GHz F-81 barrel connectors, where needed, to join coax lines. One caveat: Since you seem to be extending your WAN over the coax, to leave...

"I thought it would be easier..." a.k.a. Newbie needs help setting up MoCA 2.5 (scream beam) + FiOS 1gb using existing Coax

And removed the powered amp and prior splitter ... and the main router is still functioning normally? What speedtest results do you see with the laptop wired directly to a LAN port on the router? Separately... with a pair of ScreenBeam adapters direct-connected to each other using a short coax...

    MoCa: Complete newbie setup help

Getting a 70+ dB filter model is important, since MoCA gear can push through a typical 40+ dB model.

Moca in UK advice needed - novice!!!!

Your MoCA network would be better served, and the signals restricted as needed, with the "PoE" MoCA filter installed directly on the input port of the 2-way splitter in the attic. This install location best retains the reflective performance benefit of the "PoE" MoCA filter. That said, if/when...

Moca in UK advice needed - novice!!!!

Great post, good info. Thanks for sharing. Ah, nice tip for the “.co.uk” crowd. What splitters did you select? So you replaced the thinner coax cable before replacing the circuit-boarded wallplate? Would have been interesting to see the results of replacing the wallplate-only first, since...

    MoCa: Complete newbie setup help

Two reasons you might want to do so: If it somehow fixes the odd "NAT" issue with the Xbox connection. If you want the best possible throughput over the MoCA link, and the pair of adapters purchased are MoCA 2.5. (The XB gateway built-in MoCA LAN bridge is bonded MoCA 2.0, at best.) Were you...

"I thought it would be easier..." a.k.a. Newbie needs help setting up MoCA 2.5 (scream beam) + FiOS 1gb using existing Coax

Expanding a bit… To repeat, the in-line powered amplifier and current 8-way splitter in the attic should be removed and replaced, per prior reply: An alternative to the suggested “PoE” MoCA filter and splitter combo in the attic would be using a single 7-output hybrid MoCA splitter, like...

    Will MoCA Work?

Heh, weird coincidence. I’d never really seen it discussed before, but just earlier today came across “remove coax surge protectors” as one of several troubleshooting steps in some web page I was scanning. Anyway, if you can’t find specs for the surge protector that explicitly documents...

"I thought it would be easier..." a.k.a. Newbie needs help setting up MoCA 2.5 (scream beam) + FiOS 1gb using existing Coax

Ok, so that all maps to my assumptions in the prior reply, so you should be able to follow those details to get your setup working. Ask questions, as needed.

    Will MoCA Work?

Ah, this is one bit (among others) I was missing. Thanks. Is this the adapter formerly known as “primary adapter”?

    Will MoCA Work?

I'd welcome such a guide, as well. And, no, the diagonal rates shouldn't be in the 3500 Mbps range, since they're not reflective of a 5-channel MoCA link. (700 Mbps per channel times 5 channels nets 3500 Mbps) Edit: … all the other numbers in the table are the to/from rates between pairs of...

    Will MoCA Work?

This is another variation from prior diagrams that I'm not fully understanding. It sounds like (and PHY diags indicate) that you have a direct connection between a pair of MoCA adapters: one in the basement and the other in the Carriage House. But how is the basement MoCA adapter connected via...
