    There is no rt-ac2900 model. There’s the rt-ac86u, which has a wireless spec of ac2900 (I.e 2917Mbps Wi-Fi speeds rounded down). Or, there’s the ROG gt-ac2900 which is the same spec as the 86u but ROG branded.

    You don’t need that. The encryption is for if you plan on using DNS externally.

    Indeed. And like with Synology and Ubiquiti you can create firewall or traffic rules to allow certain communications. I guess this won’t be a part of Merlin’s release?

    Would be good if some tool could be included to manage the communication between the different VLAN’s. Currently it seems on stock firmware you can’t change/allow VLAN’s to talk to each other 1-way, 2-way etc.) which is kinda putting me off upgrading my current AC router
