    VLAN Question

If I were to use the base ASUS firmware (with VLAN’s etc.) is there a way out of the box to allow, for example, devices from the IOT network/VLAN to not have access to the main LAN, but allow devices in the main LAN to communicate with devices in the IOT network/VLAN (I.e one similar to 1-way to...

Blocking “RO” country code in Skynet blocks Proton VPN UK connections

Possibly. I’ve removed RO from my blocklist for now. No biggie - just a minor annoyance.

Blocking “RO” country code in Skynet blocks Proton VPN UK connections

Hi, But of a bizarre one - blocking the RO country code doesn’t allow the Proton VPN client on mobile/PC to connect to any UK endpoints - connections to other countries appear to work fine, but UK ones are blocked. Removing RO from the list of blocked countries in Skynet fixes the issue and...

Where would you host that file? How will you update it with additions and removals?

    AdGuardHome AdGuardHome Blocklists

Memory usage isn’t an issue for me as not running it on my router. But yes - large lists will cause issues with lower-end routers and eat up RAM /CPU when updating especially.

    AdGuardHome AdGuardHome Blocklists

Not entirely true I don't think. For example, if you look at Hagezi's Ultimate list, looking at the RAW text file in GitHub it lists 181,222 domains - and when loaded into AGH, it also show 181,222 domains. I know for a fact domains in there overlap with 1Hosts Pro, but again this list shows...

Enjoy. You don’t need to use all the lists when it comes to the blocklists - just pick the one that suits your blocking methodology.

I use all of them along with his recommendations for other lists: And these are my stats for the last 90 days: I’ve been running like this for well over a year and had to whitelist very little (literally a couple handful of domains).

You don’t need any other lists if you’re using Hagezi’s lists.

Just use the Hagezi lists and be done with it :)

Diversion Need help with selecting new set of filter lists / block lists for Diversion 5.0

Lists like OISD and Hagezi incorporate lists from many sources. I believe the Steve Black lists are included in both these list providers options.

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

I’m not sure - I don’t use Diversion. I assume you can add multiple blocklists.

They are separate lists. The Small and Big lists do not include the NSFW list/domains.

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

He did this a few months back but it ticked off a lot of PiHole users who were relying on Domain/Host blocking lists so he rolled it back (although PiHole then integrated the option of using ABP style blocklists).

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

Different blocklists used. Hagezi is more comprehensive and somewhat more aggressive with less whitleisting.

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

His lists are OK but he uses A LOT of whitelists that allow stuff that should generally be blocked. I found Hagezi’s list to be much more comprehensive.

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

DNS Director will ensure any devices will go towards the LAN IP DNS Servers you specify and not go off elsewhere on their own. Also setting DNS to WAN means that any devices going to your AGH will come from the Router IP only rather than the devices IP.

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

You need to use LAN DNS and set DNS Director to Global/Router for redirection. DO NOT check the box for Advertise router's IP in addition as this will send traffic out over the WAN. Where is your AGH instance hosted?

Yazfi: VPN Server for guest network access only

So just setup a standard OpenVPN server in the router and connect to it.
