Hi All... as I embark on making the most of AdGuardHome (thank you, @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow!) I was wondering if anyone has found any good, custom blocklists outside of the standard set available in AGH?

I guess the qualifiers for me would be, is the blocklist:
* Being regularly maintained?
* Effective at blocking ads, malware, compromised sites or other security-related
* Minimum numbers of false-positives

I can keep a running list of entries you can plug into your DNS Blocklist section here, but here are some good ones I've found:

Yeah, I had the basic one already enabled, and its was already catching a good bit. I've enabled the full list... thanks for the tip!

@Viktor Jaep - I have used the filterrules from the adguardhome addon release, so it also seems very stable. As @gspannu mentions the OISD list is good, i do use it sometimes but i also do use the first list from ( https://www.github.developerdan.com/hosts/ ) sometimes. But i have found out from my "workflow" i have (600.000 / 700.000) on blocklist + the filterrules and whitelist, and it seems to be for me the sweet spot.

Thanks @soerenderfor ... I agree, I don't want to go crazy here... will probably let things settle and hear for the screams coming from my family before dropping in more lists.

I am glad to see the prefix is finally getting used to discuss sharing list. These are always interesting finds!. Keep in mind while filter list are nice, too many filters can quickly over strain the router or block too much. I would see first if a simple block list solves your blocking needs becauses it will block only the "specific" or intended domain instead of unintentionally blocking a crucial subdomain. I would try both aspects. See which fits your needs. Most of all remember that if using filters is causing too much strain on the router, or blocking too many false positives, switch to standard host formatting.

Also, if you become too bogged down by false positives here is a really good allow list that will quickly restore enjoyable service without reducing the ads being blocked.

There is also the Extra list from OISD https://abp.oisd.nl/extra/
This is supposed to be used in conjunction with OISD full… but be warned, that it will generate lost of false positives. So best is to use this only with some allowlist… Or do the hard work yourself and allow domains one by one as they break….

@gspannu - Sorry.. It was to say that i used the AMAGHI since it could be installed through amtm. The filterrules can be inserted in the Adguard GUI ( Filters -> Custom filtering rules )

I use Quad9 DNS for malware + OISD Basic for ads. Very safe and efficient combination with no false positives.

What I am wondering is which from the default DNS blocklists are dupes or overlapping each other, meaning the hosts in one list are already available in (an)other list(s)? I would love to have the amount of lists as few as possible and as effective as possible. I made a screenshot with the available lists as a reference. I don't use them all, I've selected them all of so the file size is visible for all of the lists.

You don't have to worry too much about overlapping rules in the main set of AdGuardHome lists because they auto-deduplicate the filters using their special list processing. It takes the final processed list and that is what gets used as your official blocklists. This page only tells you what lists you have selected, how many filters are on the list, and the last date the list was updated.

Do you also use the default list (AdGuard DNS filter) together with Hagezi's? I use HaGeZi's Pro DNS Blocklist and HaGeZi's Threat Intelligence Feeds DNS Blocklist, not sure if they overlap with the default Adguard list.

Edit: I also use uBo on my browser, so there's some protection there too. It's mostly that there's so many lists out there that it either becomes overwhelming, or you add multiple lists, significantly crippling the router.

You don’t need any other lists if you’re using Hagezi’s lists.

Thanks for your input mate. Are you talking about all of his lists together or are you talking about specific ones? He has quite a few.
