Traffic Monitor Daily no longer works

Maybe a good place to start is the Merlin wiki. First learn how to ssh into the router. https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/wiki It really is thoroughly written and cannot be clearer. Installing Entware is literally nothing more than just typing in the command and following the...

Did you look through the github entry? https://github.com/de-vnull/vnstat-on-merlin

Traffic Monitor Daily no longer works

Mine is RT-AC66U B1 running Merlin 386.3_2. Thanks for the tip on VNSTAT everyone. I’ll give it a look.

Traffic Monitor Daily no longer works

I’m seeing this on my traffic monitor: It stalled on Dec 5 with this erroneous number and stopped logging. I’ve tried to create a new log file a couple times - each time I get a few days of data and breaks. Has anyone seen this?

How to test the download speed from my server outside my network (not only my upload).

You can set up a docker container that hosts a speed test for a browser. https://docs.linuxserver.io/images/docker-librespeed Open or forward the appropriate ports to test from outside your network.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

Trust me I’m not rushing to “fix” it.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

Thanks, I have a pretty short list of Cloudflare and Quad 9. Maybe I’ve give other choices a go. Actually, without logging and based on usage pattern, I pretty much figured out it was my kid’s Tiktok app sending those requests.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

I’m getting a number of unrecognized “possible DNS-rebind attack detected” messages in syslog. What’s the best way to log/capture which device(s) are originating these requests?

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

@john9527 Thank you for the MIPS router fix.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

Can confirm that 51D3 flashed successfully on my AC66U. Now the clock starts….

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

51D2 did not go well for me. I updated via GUI, then found myself unable to access the router, even after a hard switch reset, static IP, etc. Eventually I put the router into recovery mode and flashed 47EB using the Asus Firmware Restoration Utility to get up and running again.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

I’ve gone through 46Ex, 47Ex, 48Ex and 49Ex. No issues with 46 and 47. I’m currently running 47EB with no reboots, with all the same samba error messages in syslog that I’ve seen all along since restricting to SMBv2 only. With 48Ex, I started seeing the watchdog error messages and reboots every...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 50E8

The spontaneous reboots on AC66U started with 48Exx. Looks like you found the other thread with the ongoing debugging discussion.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

Interesting, I don’t see “failed to write …….: No space left on device (retry in 60 s)”

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

I’m one user who has samba errors in my syslog. Currently I’m running 47EB for a few days without issues so far. I’ll keep watch on tmp usage. For now: tmpfs 119764 4664 115100 4% /tmp

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

Has anyone given 47EB a try to check for stability on AC66U? I’m also running 46E9, which is working very well.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

Here you go. Thank you for taking a look. https://pastebin.com/dmgeRbcd In my case, syslog captured the beginning of one spontaneous reboot, then there was another one on Jul 9.

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 49E4

RT-AC66U here. Recently, I’ve been experiencing spontaneous reboots every week or so. In syslog, I always see the reboot prefaced by: watchdog02: no watchdog, restarting Or other times, not necessarily resulting in a reboot but didn’t notice this before: watchdog: restart httpd, error detected...

Using VLANs for a 2nd Access Point with home & guest wifi

Thanks to schmerg’s script in post #3 I have a vlan setup that works with the guest SSID on a pair of AirPort Extremes. ... except it works for some time - I don’t know how long - and eventually the router stops providing DHCP on the guest subnet. Unlike jamestx10, I don’t even see the DHCP...
