Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??

Well someone will no matter who you use…. Hard to prevent that. At least all those DNS providers have a privacy policy for not retaining long term logs. If one has it, why not 3….. no difference at that point. ISP will not gain much as I’m not using their DNS and query’s are encrypted.

Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??

That would require time which I don’t have right now. AdGuard Home was configured the same on both though with same servers (cloud fare, quad 9, AND GOOGLE) with parallel requests (fastest out of the groups wins), DNS Sec with tls, and a Caching mode so it sure seems to me that the pro has an...

Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??

So after using the router for longer, it does seem snapper on web page loading and AdGuard Home DNS processing time was cut considerably (averaging 4ms now, used to be 8-9 Ms) so I would update this to say there is a noticeable improvement vice marginal. Last night my wife could not tell the...

Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??

So how does it work if not a vlan? I always assumed Yazfi created Vlans as it seemed to work on some of the same principles. E.G. you can set your own IP ranges for guests networks, control routing between guest networks, within up spaces, and main IP space.

    GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U PRO

gt-ax Gt-ax6000 is the same router as Ax88u pro in different skin. I chose the later as I have to wall Mount in my network closet.

Beta ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 9.0.0.6.102.4856 (2023/03/21)

Just upgraded from my original Ax88U to a pro and am not impressed. I feel like I wasted $300. Yazfi already does Vlans and most people will not notice any difference in hardware. See my initial takeaways at Post in thread 'Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??'...

    Ax88u (non pro)

The ax88u non pro is fine. I just upgraded to the Pro model and am underwhelmed as the price was not worth the upgrade. You could also save some money if you went with a cheaper router for the second in the mesh, see my review of the pro at Post in thread 'Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd...

    GT-AX6000 or RT-AX88U PRO

I dont think the pro is worth the upgrade now that I did it. See my review at: Post in thread 'Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??' https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax88u-pro-odd-product.84460/post-833826

    Asus RT-AX88U Pro

I would not waste the money upgrading if you already have a AX88U. See my review at Post in thread 'Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??' https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax88u-pro-odd-product.84460/post-833826

Asus RT-AX88u Pro - Odd Product??

I just bought an AX88U Pro last night and documentation came in the box. At first, it seemed much faster than my original ax88u from when I brought up the web management GUI but once I loaded it with a skynet and Ad Guard Home, it seems only marginally better. ASUS errored in not adding more...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

Correction, I discovered that my SKYNET failed after beta 2 was installed. E.G. the stat GUI was no longer showing under the Firewall Tab. No big deal, an uninstall and install with some configs fixed the issue. All good now.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

Dirty upgrade from 388.2 Beta 1 to Beta 2 is complete. So far, no issues to report after 15+ hours of uptime using AdGuard Home, Yazi, Skynet, Scribe plugins. App plugins appear to be working as designed after some quick tests. The only anomaly I've experienced is that my 5GHz band will not...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

I got bit with the dirty upgrade for the 388.2 beta and for some reason my Adguard Home would no longer start and I could not fix not matter what I did (spent hours in forums). However, others reported no problems and I have dirty upgraded in the past no problems. The one thing I discovered...

    Ac86u vs ax86u vs ax86u pro

For me, the answer is simple, the ax86u is not wall mountable from the factory and has one less multi gig port, it does not support 4*4 2.4ghz, and fourth antenna is internal. Also, recent benchmarks on show ax88u has a edge on even the gt-6000. An ax86u will not mount in my network closet...

    Ac86u vs ax86u vs ax86u pro

I’d skip the ax86u pro and go for the ax88u pro which can be found for $20 more at micro center. The ax88u comes with and extra multi gig port and is wall mountable to boot. See Review Dong posted.

    I'm new - router recommendations?

    Microcenter as the ax88upro for $299 https://www.microcenter.com/product/663585/asus-rt-ax88u-pro-ax6000-wifi-6-dual-band-gigabit-wireless-router-with-aimesh-support

    I'm new - router recommendations?

i’d pick the AX88u Pro without blinking. The GT-AX6000 would be the second runner up in my opinion as while there are mounting holes, the antennas are not ideal for wall mounting. The 88U model is better for wall mounting IMHO as the antennas and ports are all on top and that just works better...

Is 86% RAM Usage Too High for Comfort?

As Ripshod displayed, assess Free vs Cached Vs Used memory before getting concerned. I have 1GB of memory on my router and have never had an issue despite the Web Interface saying it was 95%-> 97% used. Merllin 388.2 Beta 1, Skynet, AdGuard Home in Cache mode handing 8 parallel upstream DNS...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

Ok, I did find one problem though. Adguard Home does not see to work after I updated to this build. Have tried reinstallling and no luck, if I click uninstall, the amtm utility just freezes.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

This is the best release I’ve seen to date. It’s rock stable And memory management has been much much better. So far my ax88u’s memory usage stays between 63-69% after over 2 days. Past builds seemed like they had a memory leak as it would slowly go from 70% to 95% after 24 hours. Also, the...
