Help needed, wifi 2.4 is slowing down, and eventually all clients drop

From a voyer perspective, it appears you all have done dirty upgrades and not yet reset. Unclear where @128bit is at. FWIW, I installed a set of CT8s and 2.4 was lousy, before and after upgrading. Full reset of both devices fixed it. See this link, for all kinds of good stuff and a nuclear...

RT-AC86U Upgrade FW to 386.3_2 Issues

Closing the loop here. See this post. The ASUS instructions do not (currently) work for Merlin 386.2_6 and above. Use an Ethernet cable connected to the nodes WAN.

    Mixed aimesh 1.0 and 2.0 (68 vs 3100)

Your still not detailed enough. As an example, confirm you read this and performed all the steps on all devices before trying to configure them. If you did and it did not work, you should have ended up here. Use the Nuclear Reset option. Don't rush it. Only setup the AC3100 with one...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

Yes, you should have. That's why we are all here. Hoop jumping, no, testing and comparing notes, yes. There is nothing in this tread related to 2 AC86's not working together. The issue impacts AC68u and AC66u b1, but is often seen when they are used as nodes with an AC86. You can lead a...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@xdj, please re read posts this tread, and specifically 45, 51 and 61. No where have you indicated you have followed the process @bbunge and I have suggested. @ringlord no special configuration needs to performed for backhaul. Indeed I will confirm it is set to the default of AUTO in my...

    AiMesh AC86U / AC68U feasible?

Similar post suggests turning of NAT Acceleration. The RT-AC68U does not support this, so no clue if changing this on the main router will make a diff. Logically I would say anything that complicates the connection process will slow things down.

AiMesh node - with wired client

I will suggest use try the Totusoft lan speed test to measure speed internally. I have a 200\50 connection so I prefer to eliminate the internet when testing LAN speed. I use the older 1.3 lite (right hand column) just because it's portable. There is also IPerf and JPerf, but this is easier.

AiMesh node - with wired client

I just did this test. It was quick and dirty. No difference in speed that I could see. I too expected the Media Bridge to outperform. @wouterv At what distance apart are your devices and what are you getting for speed?
  9. R

    RT-AC68U in Media Bridge mode won't go faster than 288.9 Mbps. Main router = AX-88U. RSSI @ AC-68U is a strong -35dBm.

I just setup a Media Bridge setup (a pair of ASUS RT-AC1900P on Merlin 386.3_2). I set the channel to 80 Mhz. I am doing marginally better, but at 3 feet. Connected at 1300 Mbps, -26db. Getting 130-160 Write\190-240 Read depending on what I use to test. I also tested with the devices in an...

@RachaelSeven That's OK, we neand to Earn. Please remember to update this post with your results, good or bad when you get around to it.

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@bbunge Not up to speed on this TBH, can you point me to some specific references. Google is not getting me there. I can expect that the AX might need to be "dumbed down", like not using WPA3.

    Mixed aimesh 1.0 and 2.0 (68 vs 3100)

Unfortunately the level of detail you offer does not make if possible for people to help you. You do not spell out model numbers, include firmware revisions , detail of the process you use or error messages. You have not confirmed that you have followed any of the instructions that you have...

    Mixed aimesh 1.0 and 2.0 (68 vs 3100)

Ideally as @L&LD said, however this is just too cryptic for me to understand where you are at. I have just updated this post with tonight's testing. Please review and see if you can apply it.

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

I have been working through different levels of crashing the node and recovering the AIMesh with an Ethernet cable. The worst case I think has been breaking the mesh by doing a hard reset on the node without disconnecting. After resetting the node and rebooting the router I was able to...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

Would seem so... I was disapointed to learn the Guest Lan did not work properly in AP mode, it's in the GUI so..... I have a pending install where I need the guest to work on the AP. I am concerned about fragility even if this testing pans out. I had this working on 386.2-4 and may just...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

You are also comparing the old 382\384? firmware that you would have had then to the 386 that you have now. It's come a long way. Range is pretty much the most important factor to me, and the 5G coverage is outstanding IMHO. Old tech, as @Tech9 and I both have said: the volumes speak...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@dropilikeitshot , yes, but this only works for Dirty upgrades. When I reset the node to factory, it no longer would connect. So, at some point this may break. If resetting both devices and rebuilding the AIMesh with an Ethernet cable works then this is a better solution. Stay tuned...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@jaydoe Good question, YES! I disconnected the node and moved it to another room. Plugged it in and all was good. Under AIMesh => System Settings, the switch for Ethernet Backhaul is OFF.

Use Merlin cfg on stock firmware (aimesh issues)

Maybe there is a small language barrier here. Turn off the router Hold the WPS Turn ON the router while still holding the WPS button. Release the WPS button when the power LED is flashing

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

I totally disagree. I install technology for homes and small businesses. Most people do not even know that they can login to their router and change the SSID that the dumb cable installer setup. Most people have no complaints about their internet speed, though some do complain about...
