Use Merlin cfg on stock firmware (aimesh issues)

@Pergola Fabio To be even clearer, ONLY use your back config file for the specific version of firmware and device you made it on. I have written a script document for myseld to more easily reconfig my devices from a clean upgrade. You are not clear on exactly what your AIMesh issue is. If you...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

I removed the AIMesh node at its wireless location and then relocated it near the router. I was UNABLE to re-establish the AIMesh node. I did a WPS reset on the node and tried again with the same negative result. I next connected the node to the router (LAN to WAN as suggest by @bbunge and...

Connect Asus AC 86U directly to ONT.

In the US Verizon (major player) wants you to use thier router. The ONT has COAX output enabled for use with thier router but has Ethernet disabled by default. To enable the Ethernet one needs to call customer service

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

I have now upgraded the devices to 386.3_2. I upgraded the node first and followed the above testing process. I then did the same for the router. All seems well. As above, there was a lag connecting to the AIMesh node when changing the IP address, but less than 2 minutes It was an...

    Mixed aimesh 1.0 and 2.0 (68 vs 3100)

There are now about a half dozen posts with this issue. I suggest you read this. It links to most of the others. Bottom line is that stock ASUS and Merlin up to 386.2_4 works on the RT-AC86 family, but starting at Merlin 386.2_6 some users are experiencing the inability to add a node with the...

    RT-AC3200 As a Travel Router?

All the GLi products are great! I have a small fleet of these that I used when I traveled a few years back. My favorite was the MiFi, which is now replaced with the battery powered Puli. It's a 2.4G model, but for all practical purposes, faster than most hot spots you will connect to. They...

    RT-AC68U in Media Bridge mode won't go faster than 288.9 Mbps. Main router = AX-88U. RSSI @ AC-68U is a strong -35dBm.

In a scenario like this you can take a long drill bit and just drilled right through the wall to the next room and fish a cable. If you want pretty just add a pair of Quickport face plates and a short run of cable. Add a switch if you need more ports. Easy, cheap and FAST.

Problems connecting node to main AiMesh router using Merlin firmware. Should I go back to Asus stock?

@Ronald Schwerer I downgraded to an ASUS 384 version on both devices and then upgraded. It seems to have worked. See this post for more details.

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

I have followed @Ronald Schwerer suggestion and down graded my 2 AC1900P's to 384.81351 (he used 384.19). I then was able to create a mesh (V1.0). I upgraded the mesh node to 386.3 and tested various changes (LAN IP, radio channels) and a variety of restart scenarios. Each time the mesh...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@bbunge This is encouraging news. I will try it. I do not think the AC86u is an issue, I think it's only AC68u family as a router or node. Have you tested this through a reboot ?

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@Tech9 I will test that too. I have tried Ethernet before, but did not toggle the power and not this version (not that I think it matters which of the last 3). It may take a couple of days. I downgraded to a 384 to test another solution.

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

I read your post #37 as superseding post #29 and had been wondering the same. The the change log indicates ALL versions of Merlin since 386.1 forward are based on GPL 386_41700, so I agree, nothing base code related should have changed. Regarding you post #25, I assume that the 4 devices...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@Tech9 , I was not sure about the code base, but was thinking the same thing. I actually believe the issue started with 386.2_6 based on my testing and this post. I also believe that one should be able to run any device that is not RT-AC68u family as a router with the current Merlin and an...

Solved 3 Asus Routers doing the same thing. About to drop ASUS. Help!!!!

Not directly related to your core issue, but there are some reported issues with the RT-AC68u on some of the latest Merlin firmware's. See this post. Also in this post Merlin himself suggests there is no reason to run Merlin on the node.

Problems connecting node to main AiMesh router using Merlin firmware. Should I go back to Asus stock?

There is a small number of folks with RT-AC68u variants (I have the RT-AC1900P) receiving the "Unable to add your AIMesh node" message while attempting to pair. It appears to occur if the device is either a router or a node, when at least one is on Merlin 386.2_6 or higher, but more data is...

Merlin vs Stock firmware version alignment

I realize this is an old post, however the topic is still valid. I own some ASUS RT-AC1900P and as of this writing the current ASUS version is 3.0.0.4.386.43129 and the prior ASUS version is 3.0.0.4.386.41634. The current version of Merlin is 386.3_2 and, from the the release notes, the...

Unable to add your AIMesh node - RT-AC1900P (RT-AC68U) Merlin 386.3

@Adooni , I am going to try to get back to this again this weekend, but I am not really following what you are suggesting I do. Can you please be more detailed.

    MAC Address Discrepancy

I have a pair of RT-AC1900P routers. I have noticed that the MAC address for the Ethernet and for the 2.4Ghz Wireless are the same and I suspect that one of these, probably the wireless, is displaying incorrectly. AIMesh => Network => Fronthaul Information Ethernet (BSSID) = Wireless - 2.4 Ghz...

    AIMesh node vs Access Point

@Tech9 , Thank you! Pretty much as I had hoped, other than the lack of Guest LAN on the AP. It's in the interface; I just assumed that it worked, but it does not isolate like the router. Very gald you included the bullet point. A bit of a bummer as I had planned to use it.
