Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33308

Well lo and behold the AI Mesh issue was an unfriendly Trendnet 2.5gb switch. Swapped in a TP-Link 2.5gb, everything works. (Outside of manually inputting the dns-over-tls settings. ;) )

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33308

The drop down is present in 388.6_2, and works as advertised. Flash back to stock. full reset, and no drop down. Am I missing something on the AI Mesh and guest networks? It works on my RT-AX88U running either version of the latest firmware. On the PRO version, network says it is there, active...

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33308

Just a buggy firmware update overall. No selection for DNS -over-TLS, guest networks do not function correctly over AI Mesh. I do not use cfg files. I have factory reset using both methods. Zero luck. I have reached out directly to ASUS on this one. Stay tuned.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I think it is an AC vs AX kind of thing....;)

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U 3.0.0.4.386.41535 30/12/2020

That is great news....RT-AX82U next I hope.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

RC2-8 Has so far resolved my initial issues. Ai-Mesh Ethernet backhaul and uplink both are reporting correctly over my unmanaged switch. Everything seems much more stable, the flash of the RT-AX86U (node) was without incident. All devices were hard reset followed by a factory reset then...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

UPDATE: Here is what I am seeing with a fresh install of the rc2-7 for RT-AX86U: I show Ethernet backhaul correctly. There is just no active connection showing over my unmanaged switch back to the RT-AX88U. After a reboot, no AI mesh node is found. Firmware:

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I do have a symmetrical 1Gbps fiber install, and the RT-AX88U has no problem with it. Transfers to and from my NAS are as good as they have ever been. Speed tests are right where they should be. It has not been the source of my issues with rc7. The RT-AX86U has.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

That is correct, I have a unmanaged switch between the RT-AX88U and the RT-AX86U.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I have the same setup and situation with an RT-AX88U over Ethernet back-haul to an RT-AX86U. After putting the RT-AX86U back on Production firmware, all is well. There is definitely something amiss with the rc7 RT-AX86U firmware. I used factory resets, hard resets, (all from scratch, no restore...

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

I do have a wndr3700 setup with the 2.4 band mixed, and with the 5ghz band n only. I have not had any problems with it losing throughput.

Help finding a good gigabit router please

You could try the linksys wrt310n, and just running the radio at g speeds.

I used the stand that came with the router. It places the antennas at their highest point in the enclosure. After that, it is all based on your own enviroment. From the FCC photos, the 5ghz are located on the top right hand side, the 2.4ghz on the left, when the router is in it's stand.

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

No problem, like some of these other folks are saying, the wndr3700 is a true dual band router. If you have no need for the the other band, then the wndr3700 may not be what you are looking for. There are several other single band gigabit routers out there that would suit your needs(heck if you...

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

I also have a similar setup, but with a twist. I have three switches hooked to the primary wndr3700, two are unmanaged, and the third is a second wndr3700 I use for video streaming and legacy wireless. So the primary wndr3700 is handling the traffic from all of these sources. At last count...

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

The nice thing about this router is that it allows you dial down the wireless to fit your environment, and the gigabit switch is spot on. I have had the DIR-655, and currently have a DGL-4500 that the WNDR3700 replaced, and both were good products until dlink started to mess up the firmware. The...

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

I would say the issues folks are having with the WNDR3700 are due to the immense difficulty of making the NAS feature set work flawlessly with every flavor of USB controlled external hard drive. It seems most flash drives are OK at this point. I am impressed that they have addressed the...

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

I use that setup because I found that the WNDR3700 is the faster of two. Also, the 610N only runs N on the 5ghz, as the 2.4ghz serves to provide connectivity to the g only devices in my network. The WNDR3700 is all n, all the time.

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

I have both units, the WNDR3700 is my main router, and the WRT610N is running DD-WRT and is a access point only for the upstairs. The main difference I have found is the range of the WNDR3700 is much better on both radios than the WRT610N. I don't use the usb on either unit, as I have a...
