ZenWifiXT8 - is there a way to assign a device to a particular node?

AiMesh 2.0 can do this, current RC beta has been posted in the ASUS official forum.

2x ZenWifi XT8 connected directly to ISP Router, best way to make it work?

According to that diagram I think your only choice is to delete ISP router LAN1 <-> switch LAN1 and either use the main XT8 wireless backhaul to connect to the other XT8 and the rest of the network that way or connect it directly to the gigabit switch (obviously using one of the XT8 LAN ports)...

2x ZenWifi XT8 connected directly to ISP Router, best way to make it work?

How can you be certain that the WAN connection to the ISP router is completely isolated from the rest of the network your connecting to LAN1 on the ISP router? Does the ISP router have some fancy VLAN capability? You can't use the ISP router as if it is a switch that magically knows which...

Dual-band router + Tri-band node in AiMesh wireless backhaul?

Yeah, dedicated from the POV of the node. Obviously a dual-band main can't have a dedicated radio for backhaul, :) But the node is the place where it counts so not really a problem IMHO. There are some other oddities I don't understand as well. For example, you will see nodes connect to the...

Dual-band router + Tri-band node in AiMesh wireless backhaul?

What I see is the AX88U will be set to the 5GHz high band and the nodes will connect to that leaving the 5Ghz low for node clients.

    [ASUS RT-AC68R] QoS dropping speeds

I have read that using QoS when you have more than 300mbps is not useful. Another interesting thing is that recently I had been having trouble with streaming even low bit rate shows with Merlin (not sure if that was before then .19 alphas and betas). I loaded up 384.19 last night and, by...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Yeah, it's not reasonable to expect ASUS to change their development processes for what is a downstream project. It is however unfortunate that the GPL code drops aren't as frequent as needed and that can't work at all well even if there was some way to change the development model to be more...

ASUS GT-AX11000 WAN Disabled after editing LAN settings - Firmware 3.0.0.4.384_9566

I can't quite remember now but the last several firmware releases have had problems. I'm not sure about the DHCP reservations problem you describe, I've seen it a lot but try rev 6436, I think that was the last best firmware IIRC.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Have started using this update at RC2 beta3, now updated to beta4. I currently have a GT-AX11000 main and two ZenWiFi XT8 nodes. I don't use the guest feature and my other usage is fairly straight forward but with quite a few clients, between 40 and 50. Anyway I wanted to report that the newly...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I see in the release notes "VPN Fusion bug fixes". I was encouraged by this and I see on my GT-AX11000 adding a VPN client it is now is able to connect, where it would just hang on the latest release firmware. In spite of it now connecting the VPN doesn't work for the selected clients, either...

(Asus AC86u / Merlin 384.18) OpenVPN performance improvement

And OpenVPN is a single threaded application so the number of cores won't make a difference unless you have multiple VPN connections.

    x3mRouting x3mRouting ~ Selective Routing for Asuswrt-Merlin Firmware

I'm using a dedicated IP. But, because (presumably) I signed up in Australia, I need to bypass the VPN for Prime. Disney+ and Netflix work fine. Right, I thought it was something like that although I wasn't sure because a client restart (from the GUI) didn't always work. I'll try the...

    x3mRouting x3mRouting ~ Selective Routing for Asuswrt-Merlin Firmware

Hi, I'm trying to change to using TorGuard as my VPN provider because, so far, it seems to work so much better than either of the other two providers I've been using. But to do that I need to use x3mrouting to route Prime Video to the WAN, and when doing that everything else I have works fine...

    Release [ 384.19_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

I've been having problems with AiMesh and Merlin releases for a while now. The XT8s are quite slow to connect to the 5GHz band which causes node parent connection selection to be even worse than usual. But yesterday I thought I'd give this release a try on my AX88U with an AC86U as a node and...

Anyone successfully connect GT-AX11000 to connect to Netgear EX8000 Extender on 5 MHz high band?

With those EX<DDDD> Netgear devices, even with a Netgear main router, they behave badly. I tried using two EX7700 with with a couple of different Netgear routers (eg. R8500) as a main router and everything went pair shaped really fast. I think there is some sort of conflict, with the odd virtual...

Anyone successfully connect GT-AX11000 to connect to Netgear EX8000 Extender on 5 MHz high band?

I have an EX7700 but it's implementation is so odd I haven't tried to use it with ASUS routers. So you turn off the Access Point radio so the EX8000 doesn't connect to it, right? Then what's the point of the Access Point, it's going to get annoying turning off the radio every time you need to...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.18 and 384.13_10 is now available

I confirm those channels should be present in Australia. The AC88U is a bit old and I don't remember now if mine was set to region Australia when I got it, I'm guessing it was. The more recent models appear to set the region to Asia which is almost the same as far as channel availability goes...

    [Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.18 Beta / 384.13_9 is now available

Hi all, The problem I had with alpha1 on my AX88U not being able to be add ZenWiFi XT8 as an AiMesh node has been resolved with beta1. It still took the nodes quite a while to properly associate but they ended up on the 5GHz band, and have stayed there for a day and a half so far, whereas they...

Adding another node to the ZenWifi XT8

Yeah, AiMesh node selection isn't the most consistent so you might have difficulty getting it to daisy chain. But the connection might be adequate even if it doesn't, I have to assume that if it doesn't connect where you expect it thinks the connection is good enough not to look elsewhere.

PCE-AX58bt card is slower than old AC68

I'm pretty sure the card drivers (and likely the router AX drivers too) have a way to go before they will show real and consistent AX improvements. I've seen similar behaviors with two of those cards and both the AX88U and GT-AX11000.
