Does anyone have experience in setting up a dual-band router with tri-band AiMesh node over wireless backhaul? I am getting good offers on a AX88U + AX92U combo package. I don't have option for wired backhaul.

Is 5GHz-2 used at all as dedicated backhaul in this case or does the node simply connect using 5GHz-1 for both backhaul and for clients and the 5GHz-2 become useless?

What I see is the AX88U will be set to the 5GHz high band and the nodes will connect to that leaving the 5Ghz low for node clients.

Thanks. So indeed a dedicated wireless backhaul seems to be working in this case.

Yeah, dedicated from the POV of the node.

Obviously a dual-band main can't have a dedicated radio for backhaul, :)
But the node is the place where it counts so not really a problem IMHO.

There are some other oddities I don't understand as well.
For example, you will see nodes connect to the 2.4 GHz band on the main as well as 5GHz.
That's odd because the node should route traffic for both the 2.4 and 5 GHz radios via it's dedicated backhaul.
Perhaps it's there for fallback purposes, I don't know.
