Can't for my life open port 51413 for Transmission

Mmm … so I see that there's a Merlin wiki page for manual setup of split tunnel VPN client routing which is needed for the RT-N66U. I think you mentioned you already tried that, putting the wiki script into firewall-start. Looks like it takes care of the routing and adds needed iptables rules...

Can't for my life open port 51413 for Transmission

I had similar problems when I tried to setup deluge over a vpn. It sounds like there's a need to understand what's happening and work out a way to verify each part of the packet traversal. The first part would be to verify the provider port is being forwarded. You might be able to verify that...

    GT-AX11000, VPN and Plex

Ha, me too, I asked the SurfShark folks (and, I agree, they are very helpfull) and they confirmed forwarded ports aren't available. I ended up subscribing to another VPN service (as well) that does allow port forwarding. Even then it's not straight forward since different providers (that do...

    GT-AX11000, VPN and Plex

That's not really a fair statement. If you choose a VPN provider that doesn't allow incoming connections over the VPN then you won't be able to maintain your ratio or allow incoming Plex connections using the VPN. So, IIUC what you want to do, it's not really a router limitation. As far as...

    GT-AX11000, VPN and Plex

But you should also be fine using the existing ethernet setup with a VPN within the container.

    GT-AX11000, VPN and Plex

As long as your not concerned about your ratio (aka. not using a private tracker) then SurfShark will be fine. I have a similar requirement and use a container with a vpn client as well as the torrent client. But I also use an alternate ethernet port on the NAS. The bonding will not increase...

    Help building network

No, what I see using that configuration is the dual-band nodes use the 5Ghz high band for backhaul and clients leaving the 5Ghz low band for clients on the Tri-band main. Using the converse configuration the dual-band main will use the 5Ghz high band for clients and for tri-band backhaul...

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

When I was using the AX11000 as the main router I started having lots of problems like that. At times it would take me up to an hour or more to get it working again. I got the impression it was a switch problem possibly in combination with client vpn use, I may have had two clients and that...

Best router to use with a VPN client? (IE Express VPN etc)

Well yes, but AiMesh is often problematic. Even so I've been fairly successful using it, currently AX88U main and AX11000 as a node. I don't have any AX92Us so don't know about those. For the selective routing see...

Best router to use with a VPN client? (IE Express VPN etc)

Personally I found the VPN client in the Merlin firmware better than what's found on the AX11000. I had some problems with the AX11000 but the AX88U with Merlin has been much better. For me the VPN client using the x3mrouting script for Merlin works quite well with application selective routing...

    Simple (fundamental) Performance Question

Perhaps but there's not much guidance needed for swap. In any case there's nothing to discuss when your operating system doesn't use an fstab, such as most router firmware, including AsusWrt(+Merlin).

    ax88u new firmware 3.0.0.4.384_7997-g9176478

Are you using, Merlin, any addons?

    Simple (fundamental) Performance Question

Usually, yes, that's the "normal" way to tell whatever is used as the init system that a swap file is present, where it is, and that it's to be used. But it doesn't have to be done that way, all the fstab entry does is tell the init system to run the swapon command and provide the argument it needs.

    Simple (fundamental) Performance Question

It's probably because having swap allows the memory management system to use most of the unused RAM as buffer cache. It's a bit surprising there's any improvement though since everything is on fast(ish) storage.

[ASUS RT-AX92U] Android 7.0 TV Box cannot connect WiFi

The change described here worked for me on an older Android TV: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rog-rapture-gt-ax11000-issue-hp-laserjet-printer-solved.61484/page-2#post-548385

ZenWifi AX No 160mhz for backhaul

Ha, yeah, I'm out of luck with 160GHz on WiFi-2 ... That problem with the 2.5g port worries me too as the NAS I would be connecting to the router (as a node) has a 2.5g port on it. The AX11000 2.5g port is annoying too, it always had a problem after rebooting the AX11000 (I've moved the router...

ZenWifi AX No 160mhz for backhaul

Canada is a bit similar to Australia. As you say Wikipedia might not be entirely accurate but gives: 5GHz-1: 36,40,44,48 52,56,60,64(DFS) 5GHz-2: 100,104,108,112,114(not allowed),116(DFS) 132,136,140,144(DFS) 149,153,157,161 So according to this there aren't 8 contiguous channels for...

ZenWifi AX No 160mhz for backhaul

It was, and it was stated there was a claim by ASUS they would be adding this in a firmware update. The 5GHz 1 radio is (I think) 2x2 so it would become capable of up to 2400bps sync rate a best at 160MHz. I'm still wondering if I should get these, problem is they only come in a 2 pack but at...

ZenWifi AX No 160mhz for backhaul

So does my region but my AX11000 came with a default region set that doesn't allow 160MHz on 5GHz radio 2. And, AFAICS, none of the available regions that don't allow at least the main few channels that I'm not allowed to use have sufficient contiguous channels for 160MHz operation. That was...
