Few questions before I venture into JTAG-land

Try this, power off router >> disconnect everything from router >> wait couple minutes >> Press and hold down reset button >> power up router >> when LED starts blinking let go of reset button. Now anything different? Also when you ping the router what is TTL value? Next to try is as already...

    No Network access (169.254.x.x) Help

Windows registry when messed up can do all kinds of funnies. If It happens to me, I'd try another power supply for the unit. When I assemble desk top I always choose high quality one with enough reserve capacity.

    Custom firmware build for R7800

Just a big thank you for your excellent work. I don't do any fancy things with my R7800, just few surveillance cameras, two wireless printers, one small Synology 2 bay NAS, our home HVAC system depends on the router. Works just fine.

    Recommend me a multifunction printer

Printed in ink is not permanent. Water is enemy to documents printed in ink. I am sold on laser printers. Only use Canon ink printer for pictures. I don't use ink for document printing. Our Brother color laser multi function printer for home use never causes trouble. Only thing, it may use...

Recommend a fast 5Ghz, AC1900, 3x3 access point (or router as AP)

One analogy may be on automobile engines, same size engine, older vs. new. The new engines are improved in many different ways. More Hp. better MPG, lighter weight, better drivability, etc.

    Blocking Wired devices?

Connecting internet cables into my router? Wow! If it is your router, lock it up in an enclosure with good ventilation. Or you can devise something to make it impossible to plug in the cable to your router.

I did what Asus tech support asked and reinstalled 7266 on my RT-AC88U and this is what happened

There is no rule about firmware update. If you need for update according to the release note, you do it to get the benefit or if all is well with existing firmware there is no reason you must update. For me I only update firmware when there is need for that. Even at that, I wait until it is...

Extend an RT-3200 - best (wireless) way

My idea is always cabling first for networking, if that is absolutely impossible try and solve the problem with wireless. Our house is a modest two story fully developed sitting on a palm size city lot. Building is stucco exterior solarium style with wide open space and ~40 windows surrounding...

ASUS RT-AC3200 not entering rescue mode

This is jumping the gun. B4 this there is some more things to try. First thing is OP, can you ping the router? Is the power indicator LED blinking? Did you try to hard reset the router? Rescue mode means putting the router into f/w load time. TFTP may be useful in this situation if only you see...

Extend an RT-3200 - best (wireless) way

First is your router located in the best spot for the best coverage? 2.4GHz and 5GHz won't have same coverage due to the difference of frequency. 5GHz signal strength at given spot is always weaker than that of 2.4GHz signal by ~3 to 6 db or so. If you can't move the router for better spot...

Printer Going Offline Wired To R7000

I notice that printer is wireless capable. How about using wireless connection assigning fixed ip address. Make sure you download latest driver and firmware. Even now, your printer comes back on-line right away so I guess it won't be much of a trouble. I'd rather set up the printer from printer...

    LAN failures

That can give stable AC power to the adapter which is little switching type unit. If adapter's switching circuit acts up UPS, AVR are no help.

    LAN failures

I'd try another AC adapter on a whim. For the time being use only one port using known good cable. Start from the step.

    Asus DSL-N14U B1 firmware upgrade from 1.1.1.2_origintest_20161122

Can't do it manually? Or maybe the imposed f/w is modified to suit the modem?
