    AX86U - Format 1 TB HDD

AMTM is a well kept secret. Okay, I now have: /dev/sda1 on /tmp/mnt/ASUS type ext4 (rw,nodev, relatime) However, neither my MacOS or Raspberry Pi can access. Both give a similar error of "mount error(2): No such file or directory". That said, when I look at the GUI for Network Place I see this...

    AX86U Pro iPhone Log Entries

The subject router is less than a week old, replacing my AC86U of 5+ years which died. Installed 3004.388.4 and everything is running perfect except for some log entries which I am hoping someone can explain why they are occurring. Let me set set the scene first. We have three iPhones all at the...

    Static IP Address Question

Devices in your network will have an IP address either by using DHCP or by manually configuring on the device itself. The router’s DHCP server will assign the device’s IP address either ‘randomly’ or a DHCP reserved IP address based on device MAC address. A device with a manually configured IP...

    Static IP Address Question

Ya, I skimmed over that. To restate, I divided the address range of a Class C address into 4 sub-nets and used the address range of the second sub-net as the address range for the DHCP server. It makes my network addresses spread sheet easier. Let's see if I can illustrate: 1st Sub-Net...

    Static IP Address Question

For my DHCP server, I chose a Class C address range and divided it into 4 subnets. I used the second subnet for my DHCP server (192.168.x.65 to 192.168.x.126). I use the third subnet to configure some devices for static IP address. There are some devices that use DHCP for which I manually set...

Can someone read my syslog and tell me why I keep losing internet?

Agreed, dsl and cable modems are prone to synchronization and other issues that are usually cleared by power cycling the modem. Fiber connections are more stable but any issues will typically require specialized equipment to isolate.

Can someone read my syslog and tell me why I keep losing internet?

If you have electrical power issues in the neighborhood, a UPS (which I recommend) will only prevent your router from rebooting. Realize that your ISP neighborhood equipment is probably using the same power grid. So if your lights are flickering causing your router to reboot so is the ISP...

    Home network setup

Great question! I am thinking that there are restrictions wherein cable cannot be run either because it is between structures or the poster does not own the property. Let’s see if owner of post replies.

    Home network setup

First, to confirm: You have clients that will be connecting to three routers via WiFi or LAN. Correct? Question 1: Will these clients want to share resources (printers…) that are connected to another router? Question 2: Why not use a mesh solution (see image) for the two routers connected via WiFi?

Agreed 0.2 GHz isn't a big deal. For some people it's about the numbers but for others it's the delta in price.

    AX86U or Pro

Were I do migrate from one to the other I would do a side by side. My iPad would access the configuration panels of the AC via WiFi. I would plug the AX into an Ethernet port of my MacBook and access configuration panels. Just be sure to temporarily use a different name for the SSID of AX. Once...
