    Padavan's Custom Firmware

I can't speak for the original N56U, only the revised N56U B1 (it has a small grey power switch on the device, no LEDs on the ethernet sockets, and hidden AC mode)

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

I have an RT-N56U B1 which can have its hidden AC mode activated usng Padavan firmware. Performance is excellent. It beats my RT-AC51U on all fronts. I'm sure you can get better raw figures than the RT-N56U B1 but not at that price point if you're find with USB2. YMMV

I think the easiest solution is to put a password on your guest network

Does anybody know if Xbox Live Vision camera (for Xbox 360) works on Padavan? edit: it is not supported. https://bitbucket.org/padavan/rt-n56u/wiki/EN/CommonTips#!capture-images-from-web-camera-connected-to-the-routers-usb-port

That's my calculation too. Thanks! Next question: does AiRadar actually do anything on N56U?

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

    Just a quick question about theoretical/marketing speeds. If N56U A1 is N600 router What is N56U B1? AC1500 router?

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

What do you need that the March stable build doesn't have?

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

That's interesting. I didn't know you could be too close. My router is next to the sofa and I wondered why performance could vary.

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Thanks I tried the restart_wan command but the IP address does not change. I guess I need to find out what my ISP policy is for IP addresses?
  16. gingerbeardman

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

is it possible to force a refresh of my WAN IP address?

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

If not, it's because there is a limit to your router. Either flash memory space or CPU power.

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-N56U is an N router but https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-N56U_B1 is N+AC because it has an extra wireless chip that can be unlocked with Padavan. See: https://bitbucket.org/padavan/rt-n56u/issues/240/firmware-support-to-newer-asus-routers#comment-25226455...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

I didn't realise that N56U_B1 has a hidden AC mode. Is this correct? I'm currently using AC51U. Also, thanks for a great firmware. I've been using various routers for over 15 years and this is the most stable, fully featured firmware I've ever had the pleasure of using! Bravo.
