TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Well you hit it on the money here. Got Plex to cast my PC's Chrome browser screen to the CC I just hooked up with the ethernet in the OP. But it won't stream any video. Just hangs there as loading. My preliminary research shows turning on UPnP - ugh!

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

I saw that Plex has the DNLA option & was trying to get to it from my TV but all the crap above proved it to be unattainable. So it was a costly mistake for me to pay for the lifetime Plex Pass thinking it was going to solve my TV streaming issue. Right now it serves as a nice organizational UI...

Would Plex be simple enough? It couldn't see it .

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Yeah, these dongle's & STB's made the TV manufacturers lazy as they had no desire to keep up with those software updates when all they had to do was play around with panels g color schemes . Off that note, just realized today that I can use an Ethernet adapter with my Chromecast & still be...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Thanks for your input. I appreciate your time & was a learning experience too. Shame that a $1500 TV only 5 years old is extinct already. At least Chromecast is working on it & hopefuly I can stream over 5Ghz via Plex. Was really hoping to use ethernet for the better experience.

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Done - no change in condition: No additional software on the router & no DNS Filtering via merlin No VLAN. TV ethernet not on switch but directly into 86U port 4. Did prior (swapped out network printer out onto switch & put TV LAN ethernet into its spot on router). Will try onto other...

Can you explain what this means & if it is different from what Colin is posting?

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

    1) Set LAN DHCP to blank for both DNs1 & DNS2 = no improvement 2) Set WAN DNS1 to 8.8.8.8 = no improvement Rebooted the router from the ASUS web interface & reconnected the TV LAN connection also after each of these changes. Tested with both Netflix, Amazon Prime Video & YouTube build in...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Ha! Every little bit of feedback helps. btw - Since this is a Plasma TV - I have no doubt Panasonic could care much about it! No one picked up over the holiday. That's why I am fraternizing with you kind folks!

thank OE, unfortunately - USA version says reset to factory default - it did not do anything as that was one of the first thing I tried.

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Ooops here is the status page: Apps (Netflix/Hulu/Prime Video) - have the same effect as the YouTube app demo I did above. It would connect to the app's home page - stick around for 2-3 seconds - then kick me out of the app.

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Pinged the TV from my PC - 4 packet sent & 4 received - no packet lost. So it is confirming that there is a reliable signal coming from the TV to the PC. Sidenote: noticed this oddness below since summer when all this came about after I switched from the 1900 to the 86U: Ethernet connection...

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

Yep - the TV settings comfirms I can connect via ethernet & WiFi to the router (gateway). IP config information/DNS/gatewy all are displayed. But actual apps & DNLA itself are failing to actualize that connectivity.

TV can't see DNLA server via RT-86U

The only reason I brought up the router settings is because it appears the wifi connection is also not working on the tv . Mysteriously, this all occurred around the time I switch from an ASUS/TMO 1900 to the 86U this past spring. ^

Why can only see some Chromecasts not all?

Thank you. That seems logical .

Why can only see some Chromecasts not all?

My PC is ethernet to the router & has Plex media server on it. A pair of Chromecasts is on SSID assigned to an AP upstairs that is backhauled to the router. Chromecast in the family room downstair is on the router under a guest SSID. When I use Plex I can only see the pair of Chromecasts...
