    Can client names be changed?

Same. I can manually change the name of my printer's IP address innocuous name to "Printer" in the LAN>DHCP Server page but when I go to the Client List on the Network Map main page - it does not display "PRINTER."

TP-Link EAP225 Access Point Setup Questions

Finally got into the access point game thanks to thiggins' article about a cheaper & easier way to get speed & range to different parts of the house without investing in a much more $$$ Mesh WiFi system or a 8 antenna router. Primary goal was to get better signal to my Ring WiFi Doorbell so...

Why would Speed drop to 10 Mbps from 250 with Ethernet?

Spent Saturday pulling some Cat6 underneath my house to my PC from my router RT-AC68U (on Merlin). Wanted to get off the 5Ghz WiFi adapter my PC was on & be hardwired. Also - added an unmanaged switch to get more LAN connections for the DNLA TV & PoE cables I put in - also this weekend - but...

Want to get better signal to Ring WiFi Cams

Thanks Tim! Didn't know these things existed. That said - will something like a Refurb TMO AC-1900 flashed to a RT-AC68U work also?

Want to get better signal to Ring WiFi Cams

Thinking of getting some Ring Spotlight/Floodlight cams for my DETACHED garage - which is about ~15' away from the main house envelop. I have Cat6 prewired for PoE camera's in the garage & run back to the structured cable distribution panel in the main house. Was going to do more professional...

Flash ASUS OE Firmware over Merlin - any special requirements?

I want to try out AiMesh on my RT-AC68U while Merlin decides if he wants to incorporate it in his future build. Can I flash the ASUS OE Firmware over Merlin's via the GUI ? Or do I need to do something before hand?

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.3 is now available

Question: is it best practice when doing a big Firmware update like this 384.3 to reset all the clients (smart devices, smart switches, smart phones) also? Thanks Merlin for everything!

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.3 is now available

I'm using Merlin's 378.55 on a RT-AC68U (converted from a TMO AC-1900) . Can I update straight from there to the new Merlin 384.3 build or do I need to jump to some intermediary build before that?

So glad I found Merlin's Firmware

I love Merlin's & I use it myself, but sometimes disconnecting the cable from the modem & power cycling both modem & router, or factory reset is all you need to get the promised ISP speeds.

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

Looks like the STOCK RT-AC68U has been patched for KRACK in the ASUS download section: https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RTAC68U/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Way forward from 376.47 to current Merlin?

So I finally got to this today & went to 378.55. Didn't go anyt further to get to the current firmware. Paused because wanted to know that whenI manually input all my same old settings after the factory reset - will my 20+ clients that depend on this router lose their settings (SSID/pw's) & I...

    KRACK WPA2 Vulnerability Exposed

So if my novice self can understand: clients ie devices that use WiFi are the weak link in this hack not the routers themselves - unless they are used as a repeater 'device'. - True?

DNLA Stream Hangs from PC to TV

Started to get interested in streaming movies inside my house. Ripped a couple of movies over the holidays onto my PC : One DVD & one Blu-ray (BD). TV was able to see files right away with no problems initiating the start of movies. Problem: DNLA stream of ripped DVD shows no hangs or buffers...

Way forward from 376.47 to current Merlin?

Thanks for that caution. I checked my notes & it was the Retail Asus CFE 1.0.2.0. That was the only way to get off the TMO custom firmware onto Merlin when I was converting the TMO rebranded RT-AC68U router.

Way forward from 376.47 to current Merlin?

Whew - thanks. I was shaking at the thought of having to roll things back & fro with the CFE & Asus Firmware processes. As you can tell, i don't do this often. :)

Way forward from 376.47 to current Merlin?

When you say "flash" - can I use the ASUS User Web Interface to upgrade the firmware?

Way forward from 376.47 to current Merlin?

From my notes - Yes - had to go back to Retail Asus CFE 1.0.2.0. Then flashed downgraded to TMO firmware version 3.0.0.4_376_1703 to enable telnet. Then flaashed MerlinWRT 376.47.
