    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.374.979

Is WEP not working on this release? I can select Open System but when I click the dropdown for WEP I just see an option of 'None'. I still have one device that I use on the guest network that can only do WEP so it'd be a bummer to finally have to retire this device.

Asus RT-N16 OpenVPN client performance ?

Ah, I misunderstood the question. Well I'm on a 50Mbps cable connection and I frequently see downloads speeds at my advertised speed. I'm a gamer and so Steam is a good measure of this. From Steam, though not always, I can easily max out my bandwidth. My RT-N16 never even hiccups.

Asus RT-N16 OpenVPN client performance ?

Not sure about anything but the stock firmware but I was just moving over some ISOs from one machine to another today and I was sustaining speeds of 800-900 Mbps or 100-112.5 MBps. I'd say for large files like this it's about average. Of course with smaller files and large transfers of...

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Custom firmware for RT-N16

I haven't played with this at all, but on my RT-N16 I can access: http://RT-N16/Advanced_PerformanceTuning_Content.asp If I were to make a change there, would that not do anything? Just curious and I have no intent on adjusting anything on this page. What I see is 80mW for 2.4GHz, blank for...

    port 80 hell

Strange that they didn't attempt to have you run the latest stable firmware (.112) before doing any troubleshooting. .155 isn't officially released so you should probably be expecting some problems while trying to use it. I'm not saying .112 doesn't have its own problems, but while doing tech...

    30-30-30 Resets Still Necessary?

I've had pretty good success doing the following: 1. Either telnet in or use the Web Manager interface at http://your.router.address.here/Main_AdmStatus_Content.asp and issue the following commands: a. mtd-erase -d nvram b. reboot 2. Wait about a minute. 3. Since this pretty much...

    RT N66U firm. 3.0.0.3_151

Sweet. Thanks. I'm pretty out of the loop. ASUS never - officially - released .112 for the RT-N16: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-N16/ But I'll guess that there was an official unofficial release of it somewhere. It seemed like all the rageThat FTP is pretty much what I keep my...

    RT N66U firm. 3.0.0.3_151

Would you mind shooting me that link? I went to .144 before ASUS pulled it, but I ran into a show-stopping DNS problem(...it was actually more than just DNS) and had to revert back to .108 for the time being. Everyone seems to like .151 so if you've already compiled it for the N16 then I'll be...

    FW_RT_N66U_B1_3003144 Released!

Thanks! I try to keep up with the goings on of the N66 because the firmware is the same. It even says something like "built for N66U" in the logs during the startup of the N16. But I guess I missed this one. I appreciate you taking the time to correct it. Hopefully ASUS will fix it up in a...

    FW_RT_N66U_B1_3003144 Released!

Since the RT-N16 firmwares are (sometimes) being released in parallel with the RT-N66 firmwares, I'm gonna semi-hijack this thread... So the .144 firmware was also released today for the RT-N16. I updated and had an odd problem. Here's what I did. 1. Was on .108 and started a telnet...

ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router Reviewed

I'm gonna be the skeptic and ask for a source for this firmware. How do you guys know this firmware originated from ASUS? They've only released the source for .112 and haven't even officially compiled that and released it as a true firmware update. I would strongly caution anybody from using...

ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router Reviewed

As far as I know you can only send the log to an IP address. Since what you connect to the router via USB isn't going to be getting an IP address, I'd say it's not possible with the default setup. I guess there might be some modifications you can perform to accomplish this, but I wouldn't be...

ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router Reviewed

Go to Adminstration>System in the web UI. For Remote Log Server you'll enter the IP address of a machine that is listening for such logs. Make sure to Apply when you've entered it. This process enables a remote log server and also sends klogd(kernel) messages to that remote server. Once...

ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router Reviewed

It's not optimal, but I guess you could try changing the timezone on the router so it's back an hour and just setting: 8:00 - 23:59

    Any love for the RT-N16?

Well, like I had mentioned the RT-N16 is getting all the same updates the N66U is getting. In fact, I recently noticed that during boot a message pops up in the log mentioning something like: Built for RT-N66U So development for our N16s is in unison with the N-66U. And .108 has also just...

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-N66U_B1/ ...while it's up. It just came back up a day or two ago after having been down for quite some time. But .108 is listed.

    Any love for the RT-N16?

I know that range is a highly discussed topic on SNB, but my street is about 3/4 miles long and I'm smack dab in the middle of it. I don't lose signal on my router(from my Android phone) until I hit the last house on my street. To me, that's excellent range. Is something like that considered...

    Any love for the RT-N16?

It's really a great router. And it's getting all the same firmware updates that the newest models are receiving. In fact, in the RT-N66U thread I've seen them talk about a .102 firmware in recent days. I believe that the RT-N16 actually got .102 a bit earlier. So it's definitely still...
