Hi I wanted to find out if anyone knows what the max speeds one can get from an RT-N16 router, if you used it under a tomato firmware with openvpn client lets say provider BoleVPN.

I ask since some guys on the net have said the 480mhz on them holds back download speeds of around 11-12 meg only, is this true ?

Not sure about anything but the stock firmware but I was just moving over some ISOs from one machine to another today and I was sustaining speeds of 800-900 Mbps or 100-112.5 MBps. I'd say for large files like this it's about average. Of course with smaller files and large transfers of multiple files you'll see much less than this.

LAN to LAN is full speed because it's going through a dumb switch - the router doesn't do any actual processing on that traffic.

Ah, I misunderstood the question. Well I'm on a 50Mbps cable connection and I frequently see downloads speeds at my advertised speed. I'm a gamer and so Steam is a good measure of this. From Steam, though not always, I can easily max out my bandwidth. My RT-N16 never even hiccups.
