Apartment Complex - single adapter (ECB2200) gets signal?

You need a MoCA POE filter in the feed into your apartment to isolate it from the other apartments in the complex. You also need to ensure all your splitters can pass the higher frequencies (5-2000Mhz typically). One adapter plugs into your router. Your computer plugs into the other adapter.

HELP: Eero user needs to switch to more powerful mesh network.

Personally, I shy away from solutions that are right at the edge of technical limits. Wherever any problem comes up, you'll immediately start to wonder if it is the buried 100m cable. The Verizon router doesn't have to be at the same location as the switch. Is there a reasonable midpoint where...

MoCA - Cannot establish coax connection

I have only a vague idea of the technical details so you really need an expert. It might be caused by the amplifier creating interference in the frequency ranges used by MoCA. If it was working fine for before, that makes me think that either the amplifier malfunctioned or something has...

MoCA - Cannot establish coax connection

An issue in the amplifier perhaps? Bring all the MoCA adapters to the central point and wire them up with a new MoCA splitter and short pieces of cable to test that the adapters are all good. Bring the up one at a time and make sure they work. Faster and saves a lot of walking around.

opportunity to build home wifi network form scratch - advice?

If you have GB Ethernet in every room, Plume rocks. Dead simple to install and manage. Wired backhaul and low power makes almost all the placement complexity go away. I've got 6 (all wired) covering my 2500sf, 2 story house and get 250-500Mbps in every location I care about with "good enough to...

HELP: Eero user needs to switch to more powerful mesh network.

Don't get hung up on trying to saturate your 1GB Internet connection with a wireless connection from a single device. In today's world, getting 200-400Mbps in the desired locations is a more reasonable objective unless you are prepared to get seriously technical. Which I assume you are not or...

Setting up hardwired network in new house (newbie)

It looks like at least a couple of your network (grey) cables have connectors on the end. You could just buy a small switch, plug them in, and walk from room to room with a wired Ethernet device, and see where it lights up. If you want to get fancy, you can buy Leviton patch panels and mounting...

Help with Powerline to external building

I got an absurd rate running iperf3 from my 2014 MBP over 2.0 bonded. I don't remember the exact number but it was close to the 1GB wired rate.

Help with Powerline to external building

Do you have a coax connection in the office coming from the house? A MoCA 2.0 bonded connection can be almost as fast as a GB Ethernet connection. Just attach a wireless router in bridge mode to it and you would be set. If you want to do something like the Orbi, try to get the one in the house...

Comcast Spiffs Up Its Wi-Fi Act, Taps Plume For Mesh

MoCA 2.0+Plume is a very effective combination and Comcast can easily offer that in a house. I regularly get 250-300 Mbps in the room where I have that combination installed. That's very comparable to the best performance I see when I'm in the same room as an ASUS TM-AC1900. Plume doesn't get...

    Apple Airport Express 2012

Forever is a long time but I've seen nothing that indicates it will ever be anything other than an Apple-to-Apple feature. A pair of powerline adapters might be a more practical approach. I've seen the 500mb ones for $50/pair recently just keep in mind that you won't see anything close to...

    Problem with Apple WiFi stability

Did you make any progress? I'm helping a friend with a similar problem created by lots of thick, steel-reinforced, concrete walls and I'm considering a solution using an Extreme/Express extended network. But she has no wiring so it would be all wireless. Regular power-cycling would be...

    Apple Airport Express 2012

The Airport Utility 5.6 runs fine with Lion on my MacBook but the iOS version meets most of my needs.

Dual Band Wifi for Dense RF areas?

5Ghz can't do any worse than 2.4 did. There's more spectrum, fewer products, and less range (which should help with density) so it's worth trying next time. 5ghz works with a lot of Apple products although not the iPhone. 2.4 is only going to get worse with the personal hotspot support...

Slow Homeplug - Five Ways To Boost Powerline Network Speed

Hi Tim, Did you ever swap out one of your AFCI breakers to see if a Square D or Eaton breaker really was the solution to the problem? I'm thinking about doing it (I have Siemens and see a huge performance hit) but I'd like to hear that it worked for someone before actually spending the money...
