Routing internet through VPN on AC87U

I was having general weird behavior with my router, so I did a full reset and refreshed the 9460 firmware. After doing so, the server is no longer forcing the client's routing behavior. I can properly configure whether internet traffic is routed on the client side. Very odd that this ever...

Routing internet through VPN on AC87U

I'm using the latest firmware, 9460. I had a N66U previously and it was not able to run 2 OpenVPN servers. I think you're confusing the ability to run both OpenVPN and PPTP servers on the router. PPTP is not an option for me, due to restrictions on the laptop I use for work. I need the...

Routing internet through VPN on AC87U

What you're suggesting would require me to buy a second router, which is out of the question. You can't run multiple OpenVPN servers on the single router. Typically, you'd have an option on the server to allow the internet to be routed through it. That's what I originally expected the...

Routing internet through VPN on AC87U

Having two servers shouldn't be required. I should be able to simply configure the client to route internet traffic through the VPN. The behavior I'm seeing is not what should be expected by a VPN server. Either I'm missing something or this is a potential problem on the server side.

Routing internet through VPN on AC87U

I'm familiar with what servers and clients are responsible for. In the server settings, there's an option called "Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic". When set to 'No', the client's internet traffic isn't routed through the VPN. When it's set to 'On', the internet traffic is routed...

Routing internet through VPN on AC87U

I have an AC87U and use the VPN server on it to access my home network remotely. Most times I don't want internet traffic on my system to route through the VPN, but other times I do. Is there any way I can control that on the client side, without having to modify the router's VPN settings each...

    RT-AC87 5GHz wonkiness

I don't understand why so many people on this forum automatically jump to 'upgrade your firmware' when people have wireless issues. That shouldn't be the first thing to try. It's extremely likely the issues being experienced can be solved by changing the wireless channel. On the 5Ghz channel...

iPhone 5s USB Tethering to RT-AC66U

I'm fairly certain the iPhone requires iTunes on the computer where you wish to use USB tethering. That obviously won't work on a router.

    RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378_6687 - Unofficial beta firmware

Had to do my first reboot today on 6687. 5Ghz was extremely slow this morning and rebooting was the only thing that helped.

    RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378_6687 - Unofficial beta firmware

Been running stable for 4 days now using this firmware. I've also seen the wireless speed on my early 2011 Macbook Pro (802.11n) go from about 180Mbps to 220Mbps, which is a nice bonus. We'll see how long this lasts.

Yes, that still occurs. It's never caused me any problems though.

    RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378_6687 - Unofficial beta firmware

I'm going to try not to get too excited about this release, but it's hard not to with improvements to the 5Ghz band being the main changes. Can't wait to install and test this later.

I'm keeping the default setting, which is disabled for beamforming.

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.6117 BETA

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.6117 BETA

I'm now on my 3rd reboot since installing this 2 days ago. Today, 5Ghz because unusable across all my devices. I think I'm going back to 6065 for the time being.

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.6117 BETA

I'm having trouble with 5Ghz again with this firmware. It gets really slow after about a day of use. 6065 seems to work better for me. The problem only affects my Macbook Pro (early 2011) though. Very strange.

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.6117 BETA

I ended up installing this today, as my 5Ghz wifi started giving me 100ms+ ping times to the router. A reboot fixed it, but I figured at this point I should just go with the latest. So far my 5Ghz speeds are just as high as with 6065, so that's good. We'll see how it runs until the next...

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.6117 BETA

I'm at sticking with 6065 for now. It's the first firmware that's completely stable for me on 5Ghz, so I'm reluctant to change anything.

AC68U doesn't connect to the internet

What port are you connecting it to on the AC68U? It needs to go in the WAN port. This thread seems to discuss how to get it working with a separate router. http://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Home-Broadband/Brightbox-2-modem-bridge-mode/td-p/228303
