    CAKEQOS/FLEXQOS Advise/Guidance/Best Practice

It's quite probable that the only time you are saturating your connection is when you are performing speedtests or bufferbloat tests, and even then only from relatively new hardware. All too often network performance tests will be stressing the hardware used to make the test and not your...

    CAKEQOS/FLEXQOS Advise/Guidance/Best Practice

This is going to be working from memory as I no longer need to do this myself! The best way to set up parameters for CAKE QOS, is to also install spdMerlin. You can then auto-run spdMerlin on a custom schedule at times when there is no one home/using the internet. My schedule just used to run...

DNS filtering when using cloudflare DNS?

Just to clarify! When you say you are using a DNS server, do you mean you are using a DNS server on a device other than the router? If that were the case then you'd be bypassing Diversion! *It's Sunday morning and I had a little drink last night, so forgive me!

    I'm confused Asus rt-ax86u pro

How exactly have you setup your router? This is either very weird or we're being trolled!

Best USB 3 HDD for AC68U?

It's a known issue with the specific UASP SSD controller in combination with some USB3 device controllers. A long-cold power cycle after reverting the router setting won't fix, but a warm restore of a previous configuration save will. Its also possible to add a command at boot that prevents...

Best USB 3 HDD for AC68U?

Returning the setting to it's previous state has not cured the problem! Looks like the more conventional SSD drive is going back on!

Best USB 3 HDD for AC68U?

When I see posts on these lines I often follow along, and if I've nothing to add to the conversation I'll say nothing. Well... I've had my USB3 UASP SSD on a stick plugged into the GT-AX6000 for a couple of months, with only a single kernel panic when I most recently updated to the latest...

custom ddns update every minutes with AX86U 3004.388.7 firmeware

If there were a "sensible" fix for this I'd probably be using the AsusWRT firmware. So you can fix it, but it's not persistent and won't survive a reboot!

Issue treaming UK Nflx to US

You do need to be aware that if Netflix catch you using a VPN or similar to watch from another region they actively ban people.

vnStat Exclude spdMerlin from vnStat reports

I believe that vnstat uses the network information provided by the kernel rather than constantly sniffing everything itself. So I don't think what you want is possible with vnstat. *On a personal level though, is there a good reason why you feel you need so much info? When I was on ADSL and...

    Connecting a Pool Heater

What happens if you set up a hotspot on your phone that mimics your home Wifi, and use that to set up the heater, and then when it's running turn the hotspot off and the WiFi back on? *Also many Tuya smart devices have a secondary "Acess Point" set-up mode.

    CMAX6000

Just last Thursday my home network hit the point where we have more 5GHz "AX" (& BE) devices than 5GHz "AC" devices, and they're still dwarfed by the number of 2.4GHz "N" devices - even after rationalizing these down somewhat. AX certainly doesn't feel as revolutionary as the step change when...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_2 is now available

I think I was the first person to download the new version for the GT-AX6000. Looking at the logs I had a single kernel panic immediately after the update, but everything appears to be fine. *I've been using my UASP USB SSD for the last month or so to see if the panic issue with these is fixed...

External USB 3.0 HDD - Status Unmounted

I'd be starting to get nervous of the potential power draw on that drive. Regular USB 3 is about 4.5W and that drive is specced to 4.2W. So it's a bit close! If it were me, I'd probably be running it through the USB power meter for a little whole just to check. *Food for thought, I don't know...

AX 6600 connecting to printer on wired network

My experience with Kyocera printers is that you can usually print out a network info page, directly from the printer menus. I'd start by doing that if possible, and just check the basics!

Factory and Hard Reset - Low on Free JFFS Storage - GT-AX6000

I have to admit I'm scratching my head a little bit because my GT-AX6000 (which is running just fine) reports JFFS Usage: 1.85 / 44.46 MB Which is quite different to 50.25MB!

SSID QR Code validity after hard reset but using same SSID Password when setup again?

So long as the SSID & password are the same the QR codes will remain usable. You can test this by scanning an existing QR code and looking at the data.

    Inconsistency detected by ld.so

If it were me I'd: Back my settings up, reflash the router, and perform a factory reset using the WPS method before setting everything back up. I'd also be worried that doing what I've just said could potentially leave you with a none functioning router (I am a panicker)! Good Luck!

HP V1910 - fan needed in room temperature?

Can you take the case off it and maybe see if you could fit a quieter fan - I'm assuming fan noise is the issue. As this would involve taking the top panel off you could check for dust while you are at it. Unfortunately, the trick of mounting this vertically to provide better airflow probably...

New user? More like a lost soul in search of guidance.

How the ads are being served is going to be the key issue. Ad-blockers can be great at blocking web-based ads, but if the serving mechanism is built into the game they may do nothing. Personally, I'd probably start by looking to change the DNS servers your existing router uses to Clean Browsing...
