Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34791

Okay, that's not normal for the GT-AX6000! For the last weekish I've been playing with a USB-SCSI-SSD stick that I know used to cause kernel panics on the RT-AC86u. This included some massive file transfers, and there's been no misbehaviour yet! *I'm running near vanilla Merlin at the moment...

Question about AiMesh Router in AP mode

It seems as if you are misunderstanding the different modes in: Administration > Operation Mode When you select the different "radio buttons" on that page it'll give you a description and diagram of how that mode works. Regarding broadcasting different SSIDs - to some extent that can be done...

Question about AiMesh Router in AP mode

In AP mode you connect from the main router to the AP via ethernet cable! It sounds like you are trying to create a "bridge" as in Media Bridge Mode. *Unless things have changed though, bridge mode is usually slower (everything gets re-transmitted) than AiMesh (selective retransmission).

    multi gig understanding

For now, there is no disadvantage. In true performance terms there may be an incredibly small decrease in latency, but with just the single device this may be so small as to be completely negated by other constraints. Over time we'll probably see a widening gap between the capabilities...

Best firmware (Asuswrt or Asuswrt-Merlin) for GT-AX6000 router

I've used the currently supplied Asus 3006 branch firmware, but I've fallen back to the Merlin 3004 branch. My reason comes down to my using DynV6 DDNS and my ISP being BT(UK) - My IPv4 address might not change for more than a month, but my IPv6 address (prefix) could change more than once a...

    Which access point to buy?

Have you considered taking one of your current AiMesh devices and using it as an AP instead? The reduced WiFi load on your other routers might mean that another device isn't necessary. Also consider how the segregation will work, you'd probably want your router doing most of the heavyweight...

Flash Drive was getting pretty hot

The ones I have are a couple of years old, it does seem as though the GT-AX6000 does have the drivers to take advantage of them (plugged on in no crashes -yet!). For the specific usage, they could be a viable option, they're certainly not an everyday worthwhile proposition though, I'll give you...

Flash Drive was getting pretty hot

Umm, no one else here have USB sticks with SSD controllers and Alu heatsinks on them???? *Some of these do need to be tested and work better in USB2 ports due to missing system drivers...

Issues upgrading to the GT-BE98 Pro

I think experience in these forums suggests that mixing and matching AiMesh devices where subordinate devices have substantially differing (though just lesser can be good) capabilities is a recipe for problems. It's a problem that affects other brands mesh devices too! As for future-proofing...

DynamicDNS Configuration for IONOS - HELP

Unfortunatly if you reboot the router it overwrites the inadyn.conf file, and thanks to the way BT (UK) internet works, it's not caught when my IPv6 addr changes, but the IPv4 doesn't - so I've rolled back to Merlin and my old script that works...

Moen U Shower will not connect to AX86U Pro but was fine with AC86U

*Some years back I had a Braun toothbrush that connected to a monitoring device and that connected to an app! It'll have been something I bought through work for a pittance because it was a complete flop. Worked much better if you turned off the monitor and didn't use the app. Its smart...

amtm "LED control": Reverse on/off when time is dynamic

A little bit of lateral thinking here, but if you wanted to reverse the lighting totally, when it comes to entering your location into http://weather.codes/search you'd need to use a location on the opposite side of the globe! See https://www.antipodesmap.com/

AX88U PRO will not transmit GUEST WIFI on AiMesh Node

Okay, now to throw a spanner in the works! If I set up a guest network pro on my GT-AX6000 (3.0.0.6.102) with the RP-AX58 (3.0.0.4.388) AiMesh connected, to any WiFi analyser app, it looks as though the RP-AX58 is no longer transmitting any SSID(s) and doesn't show as hidden even after an...

DynamicDNS Configuration for IONOS - HELP

When you use the Custom DDNS option you need to create your own /jffs/scripts/ddns-start script - pretty sure this is mentioned on the DDNS page. See: https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/wiki/DDNS-services *Currently I'm using the non-Merlin firmware with DynV6 DDNS on the router which is...

How to set up IPv6 on AX88U PRO

Is this risky??? If you are using IPv6 there is still a router firewall there. So unless you turn the firewall off, or poke holes in it, then you'll be covered against "unsolicited access". *It can get complex if you are running a server using the IPv6 address and your ISP treats the IPv6...

Questions on moving from Stock to Merlin and will it affect my configuration?

Your AiMesh should work, but there is a possibility that you'll have to make an initial connection using an ethernet cable. You'll probably need to, and I would recommend that you do, reset the devices to factory settings. Any major change and while a dirty upgrade/crossgrade may work, a clean...

File Copied to JFFS Partition Gets Deleted Automatically

I have my custom dynv6 inadyn.conf saved into /jffs/configs (currently none Merlin) so I can quickly copy it into /etc if needed. *I could just as easily have used the USB-SSD drive in this instance.

HTTP to HTTPS redirect prevents log in to router

the first thing to try is to use https://192.168.50.1:8433 It may well be that it still won't let you straight in, but there'll be a link at the bottom of the page that then allows you to connect insecurely.

Can't get ledscontrol script to install properly

Is there still some awful conflation between the Aura RGB settings on the main Network Map page and the individual AiMesh "node" management LED toggles?

    Non wireless router?

@TheLostSwede I have a FriendlyElec NanoPc-T6 running 24/7, but not as a router. While it's stable now, I don't think I trust the FriendlyElec Images enough to run it as a router! Tip for our OP, you'll often see wireless consumer-grade routers marketed as hardware firewalls!
