    RT-AC87U AiProtection

Thanks to Merlin and watusi for the information... I am happy to learn that AiProtection uses downloaded signature files. I understand that many security packages and/or browser add-ons check URLs with external databases. That is why I turn them off or otherwise remove them. With all...

    RT-AC87U AiProtection

It is indeed a mystery. I have tried a number of different Google searches and can't find an explanation as to what information, if any, is being sent to Trend Micro, where the URLs are screened, or how it determines if a LAN device is infected and should be blocked. I would hope if URLs are...

    RT-AC87U AiProtection

Does the Malicious Site Blocking feature of AiProtection send URLs to Trend Micro for validation, or is a Black List of URL's downloaded and maintained in the router itself? Also, how does the Infected Device Prevention and Blocking work? What information is transmitted to Trend Micro?

ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561 is out

I am running the AC68u as an access point and have experienced random reboots every 3 to 5 days since installing the 4561 firmware. The reboots were occurring in the middle of the night with no real client activity at the time. It could be coincidence, but I turned off the AC68u FTP Service...

RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.374.4561 Caused major ping issues

What is the issue with wireless on OS X Mavericks? I have it running on a number of Apple laptops and the wireless performance with my AC68U is flawless.

ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561 is out

I am running an AC68U in Access Point mode, and have been running on the latest Asus release from 2 to 6 days between reboots. I have the 5GHz radio off. Most of my devices are Apple (phones, MacBooks). I have been looking at the router log trying to tie the dates of the reboots to any...

    RT-AC68U Bootloader

My RT-AC68U came with Bootloader version 1.0.1.1 The new AC68U's are shipping with 1.0.1.6, and as I understand it increases the DDR clock from 533 to 666. What other changes were made in the intervening versions (1.0.1.2 through 1.0.1.5)?

My RT-AC68U has been periodically rebooting on the past two releases (4422 and 4561). I am running as an Access Point with IPv6 disabled, the 5GHz radio off, and no Guest access enabled.

N66u in AP mode DNS question

I am running an ac68u in AP mode. I have the "Connect to DNS Server Automatically" set to "No". I left the DNS Server1 and DNS Server2 boxes empty. Right above that, I have my router's LAN address specified as the "Default Gateway". Everything is working great with my settings this way.

AC68U Bootloader Verison vs. DDR Clock Speed?

As the new production AC68U's are shipping with the updated bootloader, is it recommended to run the Asus utility to upgrade older units to obtain the higher memory speed?

    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.374.2050

I just bought an RT-66W for a friend and flashed it with .979 firmware. Would it be a better idea to go with the latest .2050 release? My friend is unlikely to touch the router once installed.... @sm00thpapa and @msb: how is the 2050 release performing for you? Any feedback on signal...

    New firmware - RT-ac68u - Version 3.0.0.4.374.454

Please understand, I do not mean to be argumentative, I am just trying to understand.... In a prior post by RMerlin regarding the RT-AC68U "upgrade" utility to change the memory clock speed, he said "In the case of the upgrade tool, it upgrades the bootloader. This is why they say you must...

    New firmware - RT-ac68u - Version 3.0.0.4.374.454

I'm just trying to understand the mechanics... Please let me know where my logic is off. When the router is restarted, the bootloader runs and sets a bunch of parameters into nvram (memory/clock speeds, etc.), and then loads the firmware. If the 371 firmware had the ability to change the...

    New firmware - RT-ac68u - Version 3.0.0.4.374.454

I upgraded the firmware, from 371 to 454, but did not do a factory reset. It appears to be working fine. Why is the factory reset necessary?

    RV042G vs RV320

I have read that the RV320 is the next generation of Cisco's SOHO line, replacing the RV042G, but they seem to have been introduced around the same time. I tried an RV320, and I only got ~50mbps WAN<->LAN throughput on my 100mbps connection. Is it worthwhile trying the RV042G instead, or am...

    SPI Firewalls / Product Advice

As my home Internet service was upgraded to 100mbps, my trusty Netgear FVS338 router can no longer keep up with the connection speed. It maxes out at about 65 mbps. I have been looking for a new wired router that has a NAT (WAN<->LAN) throughput of at least 100mbps and without a fan (router...
