Hello

I upgraded to the new firmware, took a bit but realized that my ping would randomly spike and stay there until reset the router. After 4 hours of trial and error, found that when the furnace turns on it then causes the ping to go from 15ms to 150-200ms and likes to stay there or sometimes fluctuates from 50-200ms.

I then went back to 583, repeated the action of turn on furnace turn off did a ping for 1000 times to my provider recommended IP to use and no issues, stayed around 15ms to 18ms.

Not sure what it is but I reverted back to 583, it has worked for me in the past.

I've swapped cables, unplugged connections, switch it up with a direct connect to my cable modem and not once did the cable modem show issues, only when connected through the router. I use powerline for the desktop and same issues. Direct connect was done with a i7 laptop.

Anyone else have this issue?

Ping to what destination?
What OS? (Please don't answer Maverick! This is a nightmare for wireless)
Can you disable power management for the wireless adapter? (That's a no for Apple)
How is your throughput?

Even though the last 2 firmwares are far from decent, under good wireless signal I don't see any significant delay from my devices and throughput is where it should be.

What is the issue with wireless on OS X Mavericks? I have it running on a number of Apple laptops and the wireless performance with my AC68U is flawless.

Well further testing has my initial statement wrong.

I would ping PING 206.248.154.170 which is an IP my provider ask me to test and also google.ca

no packet lost.

For months no issue but in the last few weeks, i have been having random bad ping. Whenever I turn my Network Storage Device (NAS) or the furnace turns on, the ping goes to the 200-300 range. If I ping my router 192.168.1.1 the ping only goes up a few say 15-20ms but at the same time i'll ping 206....and watch it go up to the 200-300. I also watch my Teamspeak server ping do the same 200-300ms.

I reverted back to the 4561 firmware thinking that was the issue and it didnt change much. I though it did the trick to revert back but that is because the NAS was off then.

So not sure what to do. I have a UPS, with the filters built in to the UPS. I would think any intereference would be an issue.

Keep in mind I am testing through wired connections, desktop uses a powerline while when i direct connect using ethernet to the router with a laptop, same deal.

Think it might be defective the router?

Extremely aggressive power management. It puts the adapters into sleep incredibly fast. Major pain are newest AC adapters.
It doesn't scan the wireless medium for a better AP as long as it has a connection that it considered "good"; what good means only they know - roaming between APs it's at least inconsistent, not to say bad and stupid because it is causing traffic interruption.

I agree they are achieving long battery life with those tricks, but they do this at the expense of performance and connection reliability.

An user that's not moving or has only one AP this is not a big deal, but on an enterprise environment...it is causing an extremely bad experience.
