    [ 3004.388.7 alpha 2 Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

My ring alarm has also had several disconnect with Alpha 2 but was fine with Alpha 1. Something not as right with the newer alpha but cannot put my finger on it.

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Noted and seen that post but I had the feeling that the bulk of my problems was with a broken entware install (although would not know how to prove it). Opted to add that line for completion and as I thought that it would not do any harm anyway. Also not sure if choosing the second entware...

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Big thanks again to all for their excellent help and guidance. Several attempts later trying different things, this sequence worked flawlessly for me. Not sure which of the extra steps I have followed finally managed to do the trick but I will post them to hopefully help with the final wiki:

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Many thanks indeed Viktor. I have already done exactly that (on multiple occasions) and the node is successfully added with tailscaled showing as running but I could never get it to connect (no green dot) no matter wwhat I have tried. It might be that my multiple tests with countless reboots...

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Is the issue that your are eluding to here the broken entware installation via amtm? or is there another problem that you have managed to identify? Thank you again for your help.

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

That's really interesting as I have certainly had these missing on a couple of occasions when I installed entware via amtm as usual. This had resulted in the whole process of trying to get tailscale to fall apart until I redid the entware install again and again. Why is entware not installing...

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Many thanks indeed for this generous offer. Don't worry as I might try it myself as soon as I have some time (and as family would allow me before getting me murdered due to all the resets and reboots involved!). Many thanks indeed Viktor for your input. Can you please shed a bit more light on...

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

I haven't tried Colin's way yet (sounded a bit too good to be true to be honest) but I have a sneaking feeling that you will get the same outcome even with a full reset from my experience with the other methods suggested here. I am very glad that more and more people appear to be interested in...

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Are you able to please post step by step instructions as to how you'd managed that? Is the subnet routing option working properly and is the process surviving router reboots?

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Mine was a clean start with USB reformat and a fresh Entware (and firmware) install but with exactly the same problems as yours.

Did not even survive with router still running (see my edited post above)!!

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Seems that my "rc.func" was somehow broken (despite a fresh and clean firmware followed by a new Entware installs)! They should actually be issued even earlier before "/opt/etc/init.d/S06tailscaled start" as process will not start before fixing permissions. A new problem now: The tailscale...

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

I am totally stuck here with this error: line 10: can't open '/opt/etc/init.d/rc.func' Router reboot and Tailscale reinstall using first step have not helped at all.

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Ok, I think that I may have figured out how to do first step. Moved "tailscale_1.64.0_aarch64-3.10.ipk" to folder /tmp/Tailscale/ using WinSCP and then ran the following using SSH: opkg install /tmp/Tailscale/tailscale_1.64.0_aarch64-3.10.ipk which appears to have installed package. Will see if...

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

Sorry to sound dim but have no experience doing this at all. How does that work? I downloaded the *.ipk to my desktop but what next? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Tutorial **Tailscale On Merlin**

It transcends all sorts of obstacles like CG-NAT and double-NAT and so much more useful for me during my travels. It has also much more control on features like WAN access and exit node setups.

    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

I also suspected a problem with the Tailscale's servers. Downloaded latest binaries manually, extracted and replaced the older two files with the newer ones followed by a reboot and it seems to have updated just fine.

    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

I'd installed a pretty old one though (and hence my earlier question about updating via CLI):

    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

Thanks but not sure why other things are working and this cuts off at exactly 83% every single time. I will try again later. BTW, my AMTM Entware packages are showing this despite still being on the older version of Tailscale which is again a little bit at odds with what was reported earlier on...
