Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51255

For the records: router RT-AC68U and media bridge RT-AC1900U running smooth since the upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386.51255.

Any noticeable difference between AC86u and AX86u?

What I can say is that wireless performance of the RT-AX86U Pro I did have for a few days stayed behind the RT-AC68U. I don't have AX clients and maybe my findings where due to a bad RT-AX86U Pro, or me not being patient enough to try all possible settings etc., anyway the RT-AX86U Pro was...

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51255

My Dark Knight got a second life in my son's studio, where I thought it is safe as double NAT behind the network infrastructure they offer in his apartment building. The Dark Knight suffers faded blue LED's, a broken power switch, and the plastic covers around the antenna base are broken (like...

Recommendations - best / cheapest AIMesh node?

To expand the choices: RT-AC68U, RT-AC66U_B1 or RT-AC1900U. Basically all the same, most web shops sell one or the other for a very fair price.

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51255

The story with the V4 is vague: the regular RT-AC68U support page does not exclude the V4 except that the V4 manual is no longer listed and as far as I know there is no separate support page for it in the "https://www.asus.com/supportonly" section of the ASUS website (like there is for the...

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51255

I believe the firmware version count for the RT-AC68U is over 60, the ASUS site does not list older versions prior a certain date.

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51255

    I noticed this: Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51255 8.Fixed CVE-2022-26376 9.Fixed CVE-2018-1160. And: Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.49703 1. Fixed CVE-2018-1160, CVE-2022-26376. Better safe than sorry :)

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51255

Performed online dirty upgrades of my RT-AC68U and RT-AC1900U, no issues so far. Just glad to see the long list of (security-) fixes.

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

As a side note: ASUSWRT, the Asus stock firmware, was originally based on Tomato as you can recognize in the GUI layout. I am not sure what extra FreshTomato offers compared to ASUSWRT, the generally recognized best alternative for Asus routers is Asuswrt-Merlin.

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

Hm...right the RT-AC66U B1 is "1750" as 450 + 1300 While the RT-AC1900U is "1900" because due to TurboQAM on 2.4 GHz it is 600 + 1300. My goodness...I always thought based on assumptions that those two routers are identical, well practically they are because TurboQAM is useless. Where early...

That glitch must have been there for while, it is corrected.

Not connecting to 5g, even open

Guideline in case of unexplained router behavior: If there are, disconnect all USB devices. Install the latest available firmware version. Reset to factory defaults. Do not load an old configuration backup file. Manual configure the router with the bare...

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

The main goal was to focus on the RT-AC68U router and it's variants. Gradually lookalikes and re-packed versions where added because they raise questions anyway. ASUS makes life hard for this thread with the endless number of router types and variants, I figured long ago it is impossible to make...

    Slow speed

What is the firmware version? Check the Ethernet Port status of the router, on the Network Map page > System Status > Status, scroll down to see at what speed the wired connections are made (shall in your case indicate 1 Gbps for WAN and if your laptop is wired also 1 Gbps for the LAN port)...

    Slow speed

Try the basics first to the letter: If there are, disconnect all USB devices. Install the latest available firmware version. Reset to factory defaults. Do not load an old configuration backup file. Manual configure the router with the bare minimum, as: Router Login Name. Router Login...

Hoping no one is enabling all those features, also the Web History data is shared with Trend Micro.

RT-AX86U PRO page now up ...

I returned mine, see post #92. My RT-AX86U Pro had issues with 2.4 GHz, not sure if it was a defect or plain incompatibility issue. I noticed with a WiFi analyzer and with my iPhone that 2.4 GHz irregularly was totally gone and the Brother printer (a 2021 model MFC-J5340DW) got lost (5 GHz was...

Opinion on mesh vs just media bridge

Fully agree with the above: I have hardwired our TV box through a Media Bridge which has a rock solid wireless connection to the Router (making full use of 3x3 on 5 GHz). As long as your "remote" connections can be hardwired to the Media Bridge I believe that is the favorite setup.
