    Better wifi than WNR3500L

Going to let the dust settle on this current configuration and see what the customer says. It seems that TP-Link on the existing WNR3500L may be fine for this particular case as its less disruptive and the number of employees using it is small 6 or so. The router and cable modem are located in...

Oh even better. The same applied to the 245 model as well

    Better wifi than WNR3500L

I had thought of using the Ubiquiti ER-X but have never personally used it. Was wondering if it is capable of supporting vlans and 802.1Q since there are two vlans being utilized on dd-wrt in this particular instance.

    Better wifi than WNR3500L

That TP link WAP looks interesting. Even here in Canada it is about $70 and even getting a PoE injector for it would be less than the Ubiquiti unit I was thinking of. I also noticed that in the forums TP Link has come out with another model TP-Link EAP245 AC1750 for $20 more...

    Better wifi than WNR3500L

That what I was thinking of as an alternative. What about a Ubiquiti unit ? I did not know if the WNR3500L had enough processor power to support a WAP. Re the R7000 I had one partially die on me at another location where 2 of the 4 lan ports stopped working 2 months after its warranty lapsed...

    Better wifi than WNR3500L

Printer is a Brother MFC-L5900DW printer connected to the WND3500L via a wired connection. A QR code graphic was sent from an Android phone and the printing took 45 secs to a minute for the printer to start printing.

    Better wifi than WNR3500L

The issue with the WNR3500L is that printing to a wired printer from a wireless device like a phone seems to take a while for the printer to receive a graphic file and start printing it. Doing a Speedtest to a distance major city showed a 25/5 connection whereas the wired connection showed a...

    Better wifi than WNR3500L

Have an old Netgear WNR3500L running dd-wrt on a 50/5 internet connection. Looking for faster internet throughput in a dual radio router for business usage. I had thought of putting a WAP like a Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LITE but thinking the WNR3500L is the bottleneck with its older processor. Looking...

Bridging to another network via MACID?

I noticed that on Amazon there is a GS308E-100NAS for $44.99 vs the GS308T-100NAS for $64.99 that you had suggested. I found the following on the Netgear community re the differences: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Similarities...

Bridging to another network via MACID?

Thanks so much for taking all that time and effort with the diagram and the detailed explanation, It makes sense what has to be done.

Bridging to another network via MACID?

Trip I must be missing something. I tried drawing this out again with the ISP modem/routers in bridge mode and using a 5 port (including WAN port) dd-wrt based router to handle DHCP via VLANs. One thing I did not mention in my op is devices 1-3 and devices 4-6 do not need to talk to each other...

Bridging to another network via MACID?

Ya that Netgear one is more affordable up here. The Zyxel is horrendously priced over $100 here for some reason. The prior price for the Zyxel that I had mentioned was for another model.

Bridging to another network via MACID?

I will have to see if these router/modem combos can be put into bridge mode or not. Regarding the switches, switch2 is out at the distant location with device 3&4 and would be the switch I would need to swap to a managed switch. Is replacing switch1 to a managed version required as well since...

Bridging to another network via MACID?

Any recommendations for low cost managed switches? As you can see there are not that many devices plugged into the switches as it is.

Going in circles trying to decide on N router

Going in circles trying to decide on N router

I must be blind but I looked at the Router Charts and Router Finder pages and could not see where to put the N300/300Mbps filter on.

Going in circles trying to decide on N router

I had to configure an Engenius 9850 at lately and there was a frustrating quirk in that one had to re-enter the port forwarding from scratch if one particular setting was changed. Can not remember which one. I looked at the charts here a week ago but was overwhelmed with the information. I...

Going in circles trying to decide on N router

I made the mistake of trying to help a friend decide on which N router he should get. Looking for a N wireless router that will serve a primarily wired network in a 2 story newer house. The wireless is for visitors as well as my friend's wireless RIM tablet. The wireless devices are used on both...

    Isolating wireless traffic from wired?

A friend wants to allow his customers access to the Internet via a wireless connection to their DSL. Currently he only has 2 wired computers on a Win2k3 server but is planning on adding 6 more wired computers. The customers will be given the WPA wireless key. However he also is using a hardware...
