    When it comes to performance, the read/write speed advantages of an an SSD are wasted when connected as USB storage to the router. You would be better of investing the money in a regular drive of much higher capacity.

    You can use the AiProtection>DNS-based Filtering options to force specific clients to use a certain DNS server, regardless of what the client is configured to use.

    The Whitelist rule needs to come before the Blacklist rule otherwise its essentially useless. The intent of the Whitelist is to always allow access from those addresses, even if something should trigger them getting added to the Blacklist.

    Feature request

    I truly don't see such a feature offering any security benefit. There are simple steps we can take to prevent a casual unauthorized user from connecting to our networks. Anyone smart enough to know how to bypass those measures will know how to clone a MAC address and bypass this method anyway...

    I thought the traffic monitoring stuff was all closed source and out of Merlin's control. Is the issue present when using stock ASUS firmware ?

    My setup is similar to yours and DNS filtering is working just fine when VPNClient is connected. Can you goto https://ipleak.net/ and see what DNS servers are being detected.

    Set the Accept DNS Configuration to Disabled in the VPN client settings.

    Thanks so much @RMerlin, Everything is working fine now. In case it helps anyone else, I completely removed the dnsmasaq.conf.add and moved all custom settings to dnsmasq.postconf as shown below. I also added "service restart_dnsmasq" to the post-mount script. So now it doesn't get tripped up...

    Thanks RMerlin, I will try removing that customization as soon as I am able to reboot. However, that configuration was working fine with 378.55. I have the log location specified in dnsmasq.conf.add, is there a better method I should be using ?

    I am able to recreate the issue by doing a full power cycle of the router. Will try to pull a syslog later.

    RT-AC68P, Bandwidth Monitor is still broken. When traffic is routed through a VPN client, Download traffic is being reported as Upload. I think this is probably an issue for ASUS to fix though.
