    RT-AX86U vs GT-AX6000

    I have both the 86 and now the 6000 and for my simple setup I can see no performance difference between them both in speed and 5Ghz range. I would think you can find 1G switches used. 2.5G switches maybe not so much.

    Thanks. I would not buy any Netgear stuff after dealing with their support and buggy firmware. It's a real shame as their hardware may be great.

    I think you're seeing the limitations of some home equipment.. when one has higher speed internet service 500Mbit and up. I ran into problems when I ugraded my Inernet and found some tplink gigabit switch would not do the full gigabit, my old laptop also would not do that speed etc...

    I don't have fiber from them as they wont connect it but from what I've read there is a way to turn off the wifi on their gateway/ONT; In addition you should ask Optimum, if you haven't already, to put the gateway in Bridge Mode or tell them BYOM (bring your own modem) mode... your router...

    Should we all try this on any model of ASUS router? Never thought to touch any AIMesh setting as I dont use it. Would then toggling this AIMesh setting on ,, toggle on other AIMesh things...that I dont use.

    AX86u & GT-AX6000 2.5gb LAN speed issue

    It seems odd..why would the Wan negotiated speed effect the Lan. And you say it happen with both the ax6000 and ax86u? Maybe someone with a 2.5Gbit modem connected to one of these could say what their Lan speeds are.

    Question/clarifiication ; So you have the 2.5 port (wan) on AX6000 and/or the 2.5 port on the AX86 plugged into the modem's 2.5.. then you plug your PC with the 2.5 NIC (assume its a fast PC) into a 1GB LAN port.. are you getting 900+ or only 600-800 ?

    PC is ethernet and disconnecting? Could your powerline adapter be failing? Try swapping it with your other ones. I kno2. Othing about those but ethernet short of having a bad cable, port, NIC, is pretty reliable.
