Got the Netgear WNDR3700 - what now?

netgear forums show a lot of issues w/ the wndr3100 v1....it might be hard to find a refurb v2. i went w/ the linksys wusb600n new open box on ebay on the cheap b/c I specifically wanted a dual ban adapter. Worked like a charm. The WET610n has greater flexibility, but I had trouble with it.

NAS, ext HD and performance for home use

thanks for the reply. For some reason, I couldn't get past the ReadyNAS Duo slow performance. Ended up getting the Buffalo Technology LinkStation Pro LS-XHL for about $150 cheaper than the ReadyNas, albeit no RAID.

    Peculiar WET610N problem

...it was the least I could do. As much as I wanted to test the WET without the Actiontec, it would have required too much work. There's good info on another site for converting the Actiontec to a bridge. However, since I was an early FIOS adopter, I'm running PPPOE (whatever that means)...

    Peculiar WET610N problem

the wusb600n installed in just a few minutes w/o a hitch. so either the WET has bugs or I got a bad WET. glad that's over.

NAS, ext HD and performance for home use

I need a NAS or ext HD for file backup. I'm currently backing up files from one PC to another PC over a network and would like to get away from that setup. Is the key difference b/t a NAS and an ext HD is the latter needs a PC (or a router) for file access? If my primary need is to backup...

    Peculiar WET610N problem

Update: Well, ended up returning the WET610N. Netgear tech support told me that I should return the Netgear and Linksys told me I should return the bridge...well what would that leave me (my 10 year old mr314 and a wusb11)? I tried removing the actiontec out of the picture without much...

    Peculiar WET610N problem

I have an old netgear mr314 that I thought I could try out as an AP instead of the wndr3700. But for whatever reason, I can't change the 3rd octet. It is currently at 192.168.0.1 and when I tried to change it to 192.168.1.3, it froze and I had to reset it. Is it true that if the Actiontec is...

    Peculiar WET610N problem

UPDATE: Well, I happened to have a Linksys WUSB11 wireless adapter connecting to my TIVO. So I used that in place of the WET...and everything worked fine. It is clearly a WET issue...so it seems. I've tested with no encryption and still had problems. Not sure what you mean by NAT...

    Peculiar WET610N problem

Update: On a whim, I disabled the Netgear and turned on the Actiontec wireless. Connected the WET to the Actiontec and had no issues connecting to any website. So, the problem appears to be with the netgear and actiontec talking to each other. I followed the article of how to turn a...

    Peculiar WET610N problem

I thought I'd bump this post to see if anyone has the same problem? Though Crawdad's explanation is beyond my understanding, it seems there is no resolution. I recently upgraded to a wndr3700, used as an AP and configured the wet610n but cannot access certain sites (like amazon, ebay and...

Switch + gaming adapter= cheap AP?

sorry about that. My understanding of the above post, is that I could hook the WGA600N to a switch and attach a print server (and another PC) to this switch. In this setup, any PC on the network would be able to use the printer attached to the print server. Instead of using a switch and a...

Switch + gaming adapter= cheap AP?

re-kindling this post....if I may If I wanted to add a print server to the end of the WET610N and connect a PC, I could use a switch (like a d-link DI-604 router) and a separate print server. Was wondering if a wireless print server and switch (netgear WGPS606 seems to get good reviews)...

How to connect desktop to Netgear WNDR3700 wirelessly . . .

tim- do these bridges have the same range as a USB adapter (say the wnda3100)? I understand the flexibility of the bridge compared to the adapter, but could a dual band router also be converted to work as a bridge? Then you'd have a built in switch, right?

Need an Access Point with the same wireless perf as a WNDR3700

Tim-- Read the article (How To Convert a Wireless Router into an Access Point ) and have a question regarding funtionality of the router gone AP. I have fios internet and TV and believe I need to keep the Verizon supplied Actiontec router/modem intact (moca). Is there any functionality...

    Wireless N USB Adapters

I understand to get best performance one should pair the router and client (hope that is correct terminology) using the same mfg. I'm thinking of replacing a few old wireless B PCI cards with wireless N usb adapters and upgrading to a wireless n router. The USB adapters are expensive!! A...
