    Support Timeline

I think the question was "if AX88U should get Merlin updates as long as for example AX86U" Only @RMerlin can answer that question.

    Slow Ethernet jack

The cable tester doesn't know what color the wires are. It's just looking for continuity. Someone could have just connected the same color wires to the same pins on both jacks, not following any color code. Twisted pairs must be connected to the correct pins for the standard you are following...

    Slow Ethernet jack

No. It just means that each wire is connected to the same pin on both ends. The wires could be from different twisted pairs in the cable. @bbunge has the correct hint. 95 Mbps indicates only two pairs are working. You need 4 for Gigabit. Best things is to pull the sockets out of the wall and...

    AiProtection

@ColinTaylor @Tech9 If you two want to snipe at each other, take it into a private conversation. I've about had it with the bullying that goes on in these Forums, No one provides enough value here that such behavior should be tolerated.

    2.4 Roaming Methods?

STAs decide when and where to roam. APs can try to influence the decision. But, in the end, STAs decide. That's the way Wi-Fi works. Forcing de-auth can end up with a disconnected STA. @tgl Yes, each SSID takes a little more airtime. But the handful involved in the typical home WLAN are not...

Asus AiMesh technology 802.11kv detected but no 802.11r

You generally don't see 11r implemented on consumer gear because it usually works with 802.11x authentication. This requires support on the STA side and also usually requires a RADIUS server. 11r is mainly needed for voice and VoIP applications like in some hospital communication systems. It...

Can't upgrade former T-Mo RT-AC68U flashed to Asus from 384.19 to 386.72. Rebooted before attempt, update appears to succeed, but fails silently.

@L&LD That is not official SNBForums policy. The policy is: Posts on converting the TM-AC1900 are not allowed. Questions regarding an already converted router are allowed. It is up to forum members to decide whether or not to answer these questions. That said, not many users on these forums...

    Is SmallNetBuilder site still active?

It's not just styling. At least some of the major U.S. ISP's are spending serious $ working to improve performance and making their router offerings more attractive. Since they are under increasing pressure to lower their monthly service costs and increase offered bandwidth, they are looking for...

    Is SmallNetBuilder site still active?

@Paapaa and everyone, The "New Door Opens" article linked above sums up the situation, with two changes. First, octoScope was purchased by Spirent, so I've been contracting with them since January 1. Second, the contract work is taking all my available time and I have no time for reviews. And...

Buffalo consumer routers - any good? Or alternatives w/focus on security & updates?

At one point, they were the #1 consumer router maker in Japan. Don't know if that still is the case, however. Their user interface wasn't the best, but product performance was pretty good.

Does OFDMA Really Work? Part 1

OFDMA offers no benefits to a single AX device. On or off will make no difference. Latency effects are seen only under very specific conditions. I wouldn't worry about the settings.
