Any way to get 5ghz channels 149+ on UK bought Asus routers?

Since channels 149-165 on the 5ghz band are now legal in UK by OFCOM (since 2020 AFAIK), is there any way you can unlock these channels on any Asus router? Its clear Asus couldn't give 2 hoots about UK users, and whilst Netgear isn't much better but at least they allow you to access channels...

    RT-AX89X

anyone know of any alternative firmware available for the AX89X? More specifically, to unlock channels 149-165 in UK? (now legal)

Do Netgear AX products sold in the UK allow channel 149?

Yes, they do. I have a RAX200 and R6300v2 both purchased in UK and region can be changed on both in order to access channels 149+ on the 5ghz band.

Do Netgear AX products sold in the UK allow channel 149?

I could be wrong but I'm not aware of any router manufacturers which allow 5Ghz channels 149-165 to be used in UK if UK region is set - despite (as you rightly say) OFCOM having legally allowed the use of such channels in recent years. It seems router manufacturers are just being too lazy in...

    Wi-Fi 6 Release 2 revealed

https://www.wi-fi.org/news-events/newsroom/wi-fi-certified-6-release-2-adds-new-features-for-advanced-wi-fi-applications I wonder if existing wifi 6 routers can be upgraded to 'release 2' through a firmware upgrade? Or does it require different (newer) hardware altogether?

    Xiaomi Tri-Band Mi AX9000

But on a serious note, I have ordered it from that Spanish retailer for GBP 195, I should have it next week. I will post feedback by comparing it to my Netgear RAX200 wrt performance.

    Xiaomi Tri-Band Mi AX9000

Reviews seem to be great and specs (on paper at least) look high end: Hardware configuration Processor: Qualcomm IPQ8072 quad-core A53 2.2GHz Network processing unit: Dual core 1.7GHz Memory: 1 GB Wi-Fi 2.4G: 4 × 4 (supports up to IEEE 802.11ax protocol, theoretical maximum rate is 1148 Mbps)...

Wifi 6 supported in TVs/BlueRay players etc?

AFAIK even the latest and greatest smart TVs still use wifi 5 (802.11ac) and this is more than capable of giving you 4K streaming wirelessly, provided your internet connection speeds are fast enough and wifi signal is suitable. However you can 'upgrade' your TV/device to wifi 6 by using a wifi 6...

News NETGEAR Announces Two Small-Biz Wi-Fi 6 APs

    1. The RAX120 is a 8 stream router/AP whilst the WAX206 is only 2x2, hence why the former costs a lot more. How much better the RAX120 will be, you won't know until you try it out. 2. If you're happy with your Asus Blue Cave (as main router?) then you might as well buy another one - given how...

Does the Asus Blue Cave support mediabridge mode?

An update: bought the Blue Cave last week and its working flawlessly in media bridge mode. I did a wired speed test on my laptop connected to the Blue Cave in the location where the Blue Cave will live and its giving me 800+ Mbps consistently - previously i couldn't get above 600 Mbps on my...

Does the Asus Blue Cave support mediabridge mode?

Thanks guys, have ordered a Blue Cave.

Does the Asus Blue Cave support mediabridge mode?

My main router is also 4x4 (Netgear RAX200) so obviously for optimal performance, a 4x4 router/AP would be best. A 4x4 wifi 6 device would be perfect such as the Netgear EAX80 extender but i don't want to spend silly money on that. A 4x4 wifi 5 router is probably the next best thing in terms of...

AiMesh with AC88u and Blue Cave

@shoman94 Sorry I have a question to ask about your Blue Cave and its off-topic. In router firmware settings if you go to ADVANCED SETTINGS > ADMINISTRATION > OPERATION MODE , do you happen to see the 'mediabridge' mode there? I assume you're running the latest firmware? Many thanks! :)

Does the Asus Blue Cave support mediabridge mode?

Thanks guys. Reasons for specifically choosing the Blue Cave is that I'm looking for a 4x4 wifi 5 router/AP which i can put behind the TV (to provide TV and XBox with ethernet connections as their built-in wifi is rubbish) but as space is limited, i need a router with a small footprint, doesn't...

Does the Asus Blue Cave support mediabridge mode?

According to the specs on the Asus website it does, but looking at the user manual (p86), there's no mention of this: Can someone clear this up please? (thinking of buying this to use as a wireless bridge, aka media bridge mode) Cheers

RAX200 needs frequent reboots to route between wired and wireless on local LAN

What issues are you having on your RAX200? My RAX200 is rock solid running the latest V1.0.5.126_1.0.65 firmware, not having the same issues as the OP. The RAX200 is probably the best AX router out there for range and stability IMHO @Claghorn Have you done a factory reset of your RAX200 and...

Review New In The Charts: NETGEAR RAX120

@thiggins Did you test using the RAX120 v1 or v2? I believe the latter uses a slightly newer QCA chipset, possibily supporting OFDMA U/L.

Review New In the Charts: ASUS RT-AX86U

Perhaps its also worth reviewing and adding QCA based wifi 6 routers such as the Netgear RAX120 and Asus RT-AX89X to the charts? At the moment the wifi 6 router list is occupied by Broadcom kit.

    RAX120 v2

Oh bummer :( I was sent a V1 then. Anyhoo its going back for a refund as wifi range on it wasn't as good as my RAX200.
