    Amplifi Alien

Yeah I sold my Alien to some Ubiquiti fanboy on eBay UK for £420, so got my money back. I suspect they are only selling well because a) They are made by Ubiqitui (who admittedly do make good enterprise grade APs) b) The router is a very attractive piece of kit IMHO the Alien is a classic case...

    Netgear RAX200

Had my RAX200 for 6 months now, best router I've ever owned. You won't regret it!

News NETGEAR Announces Tri-Band AX RAX200 Router

The latest RAX200 firmware (1.0.2.8) released a few days ago, now adds WPA3 & 802.11ax OFDMA amongst a few other things. I've also noticed wireless speeds have increased & become much more stable, probably d/t updated wifi drivers. For anyone upgrading to 1.0.2.8, I strongly recommend doing a...

    DNS address - which one ~ rules~

This seems to be the case. My router has Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1) setup. However when i change the DNS to 8.8.8.8 on a local PC connected to the router, that PC is now using google DNS. So it appears the DNS address on the client overides the DNS on the router.

    Amplifi Alien

I finally managed to get hold of an Amplifi Alien to test it....and hugely disappointed with it: 1) Wireless range is nowhere near my Netgear RAX200 2) Router doesn't support high numbered channels on the 5ghz bands (eg 157) 3) You cannot manually change the channels on the third 5ghz radio (...

    pppoe or not to pppoe

Then in that case, you need to continue using PPPoE by selecting it manually. Simple :)

    pppoe or not to pppoe

If your ISP uses PPPoE then that's what you have to use. As to whether the 'automatic' setting detects & sets PPPoE as your connection type, why not give it a try and see what happens?

    Amplifi Alien

Due to a shortage of Alien units everywhere (incl. Amplifi online store), this has pushed the prices up massively. These are being sold for more than $600 on ebay!! Madness to spend that much on a router with a RRP of $379. I'm sure its a good router, but is it a $600 router?...not a chance.

Which router brand update their firmware the most ?

"Which router brand update their firmware the most ?" Asus. That's because their routers are often buggy as hell and need firmware updates every 2 mins. The Asus RT-AC87U and GT-AC5300 being very good examples. The question you should really have asked is: "which router brand has the most...

News NETGEAR Announces Tri-Band AX RAX200 Router

@Axelrod360 Like you I also have a tonne of Wi-fi clients which is why I’m bought the tri band Netgear RAX200. I wasn’t too keen on the Asus AX11000 as ASU’s routers tend to be buggy as hell when first released. I find the RAX200 to be a great router, with superb Wi-fi speeds & even better...

News NETGEAR Announces Tri-Band AX RAX200 Router

Using the latest 1.0.1.10 fw and it works a treat.

    2 SSID on different channels?

Plenty of tri-band routers out there, typically with 1 x 2.4ghz and 2 x 5ghz radios. Such as the Linksys EA9500 or Netgear RAX200 if you want the latest & greatest tri-band router. A tri-band router won't let you choose the same channel on both 5ghz radios for obvious reasons. On my Netgear...

Is the Phicomm K3C a good option at $25?

OP, Go for the K3 instead @ $50, as it has the same hardware internals as the high end Asus RT-AC88U. I *think* the K3 might be able to have DD-WRT installed on it but don't quote me!

News NETGEAR Announces Tri-Band AX RAX200 Router

Had this router for a few weeks now, obviously not cheap but in terms of performance, rock solid and great wifi speeds :)

Modem + router change with DSL (no DSL-AC68U)

Stay away from the notorious DSL-AC68U, as this has major issues (at least here in the UK) due to the very unstable Mediatek DSL chipset. Your best bet is to go for the latest DSL-AC88U as this uses a fairly solid Broadcom DSL chipset.

Wi-Fi 6 Performance Roundup: Five Routers Tested

Surely if the above is true then the Asus GT-AX11000 has 512MB of flash, not 256MB as shown in the review? (The Netgear RAX200 has 1GB of RAM & 256MB of flash).

NETGEAR Intros Tri-band Wi-Fi 6 Router and Mesh Extender

Dong has done a review for the RAX200 and according to his tests, it comes out at the top for both wifi 6 and wifi 5 clients on the 5ghz band. Can't wait to receive my RAX200! :) https://dongknows.com/netgear-rax200-nighthawk-ax12-12-stream-ax11000-tri-band-wi-fi-6-router-review/

NETGEAR Intros Tri-band Wi-Fi 6 Router and Mesh Extender

Urrgggghhh...delayed again. Amazon.de are saying they've got no idea when they expect to receive the RAX200 in stock. @thiggins Are you able to find out from Netgear an exact release date for the RAX200? cheers

GT-AC5300 low signal strength on 5G-1 network

Seems like a classic bug. If you don't get this resolved, you may want to get a Linksys EA9500v2. Its more or less the same hardware as the GT-AC5300 but without the bugs :)

NETGEAR Intros Tri-band Wi-Fi 6 Router and Mesh Extender

I have the RAx200 on pre-order from Amazon Germany with delivery by 17th Sept. I guess this announcement confirms that I should be getting it very soon. Was charged €450 including shipping to UK. Will be fascinating to see how the RAX200 compares against my Linksys EA9500v2 for 802.11ac clients.
