How-to enable DoH (DNS over HTTPS)?

What's wrong with DoT? And, at least on my router, I don't even see DoH as an option...

Brute force attack although ports forwarding activated

Not bad luck. Changing the port isn't really an effective security strategy. If someone is serious they'll scan a full range of ports for your IP.

Why doesn't ASUS provide own Geo Blocking function?

I think the obvious answer is that it's not worth much to Asus to provide this functionality to it's entire customer set, because the vast majority doesn't value that specific feature. And, it can be accomplished with other, Asus - "approved" firmware and add ons :)

    Should I use a VPN

There are many reasons. 1. Unblock geo-locked content 2. Keep ISP from watching your traffic (for whatever reason) 3. Use on public wifi etc etc. What you should not do, is use a _free_ VPN service. Because if it is free, you are the product* *exception maybe ProtonVPN

I've disabled WPS. What other options should a noob start with?

And here you are, bumping the thread. Better add yourself to the offenders list as well! ;)

I've disabled WPS. What other options should a noob start with?

Well, you got me, for once I didn't check the original post and just looked at the list of 'What's new' :)

I've disabled WPS. What other options should a noob start with?

First, think beyond the router. When I hear 'secure network' the first thing should always be thinking beyond the periphery, to the 'soft underbelly' that's inside. Hopefully you've already considered that :) Things like turning on the firewall on your internal devices. Or splitting traffic...

    What's going on with Rogers?

Interesting discussion, thanks for the link to the Cloudflare article @shabbs ! It's sad that we have to get good, straightforward analysis from an outside party and not directly from Rogers. I agree that they did an incredibly poor job managing communication. This stuff is basic, and any of...

    DHCP List Max Limit Increased?

    My AX68U with YazDHCP has 128. :)

    quick question about DHCP reservations

Either that, or it's not registering because it's not blocked (i.e. it may connect but then require usrID and pwd). I didn't think about that till after though :D

    quick question about DHCP reservations

Just for a data point: 1194 isn't in my top 10 scanned ports according to Skynet. And I've run my OpenVPN server on it for some time. It surprised me as well. YMMV of course :)

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

Hmm, since this was in reference to my post, I don't think I freaked out ;) Having said that, swapping is a helluva lot slower than having available ram (if required). So, having never seen either of my routers go over 90% utilization, and see the % continuing to creep up, I don't think it's...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

I checked the link Colin, but I don't know what I'm looking at, or what the threshold is for the router actually letting go of memory before it's an issue (so I can monitor :) )

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

The memory use on my AX68U was over 90% after upgrade (and I gave it a few days) and it kept slowly creeping upwards. I went back to 386.5_2 and it's back below 70% used.

Skynet Is default firewall good enough?

If I had 300+ outbound blocks I'd check on what was causing it. At worst, something is wrong on my network, but I'd just be concerned about blocking legitimate traffic. :)

Skynet Is default firewall good enough?

@SomeWhereOverTheRainBow do you regularly look into the outbound blocks?

RT-AC86U Manually Assigned IP Limit is 64

This is worth highlighting. We often jump to the technical solution instead of questioning what's the "question behind the question" :)

Skynet Skynet and iplist updates insted off addind new ip's skynet removing ip's?

The numbers will go up and down as IPs are added to, or removed from, the list. It doesn't just go in one direction.

Each Firefox download has a unique identifier

I have a vision of folks going to great extent to install a 'privacy based browser' to then go on facebook an share their personal info to the world. :D Seriously though, it's a spectrum. And there are always going to be tradeoffs, especially when there are 2 sides to the communication...
